Ouddict members will have the chance to shortlist Oud oils from Ouddict Resident Artisans only that have been on sale at any time in 2019. The format is as follows:

1. There will be two categories. Wild and Organic. An Oud of the Year will be voted separately for each category in parallel.

2. The search for the Oud of the Year starts with a nomination by members, a 1st Round poll and Final Round poll. Nominations start on the 12th December and remain open until the 19th December.

3. A member may only vote if they have bought the Oud or sampled it and members must have been registered before December 2019 in order to take part. We will be making checks to enforce this.

4. A maximum of up to 5 Ouds for each category can be nominated for inclusion by members for inclusion in the first round poll. You do not have to nominate 5 Oud oils per category, but you cannot nominate more than 5 per category. This is to keep the exercise manageable and prevent “spamming”.

5. The 1st Round Poll will be created from the nominated list of Ouds and members can vote on the 1st Round from the 19th to the 25th December.

6. A Final Round will be created from the 1st Round results and a vote held from the 25th December to the 1st January.

7. The Oud of the Year will be announced on 2nd January, 2020.

8. Any member who does not follow these rules will be barred from any further involvement in the Oud of the Year 2019 vote. No exceptions. No excuses.

Note for Vendors and Vendor Associates
1. You can take part in the Oud of the Year
2. You cannot nominate your own products.

If you require any clarifications on the above rules, please ask on this thread, thanks.

Ouddict members will have the chance to shortlist an Oud oil from vendors that has been on sale at any time in 2018.
Only Oud released within this year is eligible for shortlisting.

Is that bit in bold needed? it sorta contradicts the first sentence, for example, if something was available in 2017 and still in 2018 then it was for sale in 2018 but not released in this year

Well spotted... that line was actually part of lasy year's rules and escaped my editorial knife. Now corrected.

@Ouddict

thanks for this.

Any possibility to submit our nominations via pm?

(the rules don't specify anything and I'd rather use that format than the thread if it is possible of course)

Sure you can remain anonymous if you wish.

No problem. I would like to add that in general, we would like nominations in public, as if everyone wanted to remain anonymous, it might undermine the transparency of the vote. However, we are happy to make exceptions as long as they are the minority.

aaahhh of course didn't think of that!

I would never imagine a bias in your processus

...but it makes complete sense as such that you prefer so

Will ponder over my swiss discretion in the next few days :D

For purposes of nominating, does the number of nominations an oil gets matter, or does any oil that is nominated even once get on the list of nominations? (I ask because some of the oils I would nominate have already been nominated. LOL! )

You can renominate. Just because an oil has already been nominated doesn’t mean you can’t nominate them also. Not all nominations will necessarily make the 1st Vote as otherwise we might end up with a list that is 100 oils long!

Can a member nominate an oud oil if it was received as a gift?

I only used Wild Ouds from Ensar that are Borneo 3000 and Port Jaya but unfortunately, Ensar isn't on the list.
so I can't mention his Ouds
