Ok this is my first review or impression posted here and may I be the first to say I am a novice at Oud or Attar interpretation. My Impression of Crocodile by Rising Phoenix is it opens with a Patchouli/Ruh Khus like note the Ruh Khus note is not as complex as Ruh Khus it also has this postage stamp glue note that is present through out not overpowering but there. This green patchouli/ruh khus vibe goes through to the middle notes then a little vanilla note creeps in lightly and a little green wood, smoke and pepper by the drydown all notes are present but the vanilla, green woods, pepper and smoke deepens I like the drydown best. This Crocodile does not have that Oudyness that most

Ouds have and it does not project it's a close to the skin scent to me...but it does reminds me of Mardelong, Pursat select and Kayu Melayu from Agar Aura in its profile but with out the Oudyness.

Isn’t crocodile oud another word for buoya or aetoxylon? Is this an oil of aetoxylon or agarwood i wonder? I checked. That’s not oud, but a different species altogether - this stuff is sold dirt cheap on eBay...

I wonder if those oils you mention might have a little bit of aetoxylon mixed in and that is why you are recognizing it?

Mr.P why would you suggest, on the words of a self confessed novice, that Agar Aura is selling adulterated oud oil?
That is a rather slanderous comment to make...
In my experience AA currently distills the purest, true to the wood and highest quality oud oil you can buy!

edit:Rising Phoenix's crocodile is indeed pure Aetoxylon/Buaya wood. If it is lucky to smell like oud to a novice that is great.

Yes you are correct Crocodile is Aetoxylon. I believe that the others are pure Ouds..the notes that they share are this very green woody scent like deep jungle.

Oh those were agar aura oils? I didn’t know. The person said they smelled like the crocodile buoya, so I wondered if maybe the oils had buoya. If someone said they’re oud smells like patchouly I might wonder that it has patchouly in it. That’s all. Never smelled agar aura oils, have no comment on anything about that company, do not take my comments as in any way based on experience with agar aura.

Yes this is not a pure oud, it's, as Mr P pointed out "buoya"

I have tried this and it comes off as slightly Papuan to me, I quite liked it.
Yes this I do know...I posted here because I didn't see a thread that related to...Non Agarwood impressions I also like it.

the post clearly stated "but it does reminds me of Mardelong, Pursat select and Kayu Melayu from Agar Aura "
I wonder why someone would make such potentially damaging comments??

Didn’t know it was agar aura as I said. Didn’t read carefully. I have only heard good stuff about these guys. Perhaps the similarity is not due to “aetoxylon notes” in agar aura’s oud but instead due to oud notes in the aetoxylon? I have no experience with agar aura or aetoxylon so please let it go . What are you suggesting? That I am pursuing some agenda criticizing the ouds of someone whose products I haven’t smelled? Don’t think so.

Here: From what I have heard, agar aura produces only top shelf oud and I have no information to suggest otherwise.

What have I stated that would be potentially damaging...that a oil that I have smelled (reminded me) of another oil that I have smelled also...

I believe that the distillation process can introduce notes depending on various parameters. So if I distilled agarwood and aetoxylon using a similar apparatus, water, techniques, etc........it is likely that there will be some shared notes.

That’s an interesting thought.

20190708_192657.jpg Alsalamualaykum brothers and Sisters this is my impression of a real Oud this time...lol

CRASSNA from The Attar Store

First I have to say it was a delight dealing with Hamza my package came pretty quickly by Royal Mail and the price just couldn't be beat...unless it was free...lol.

Crassna is a tangy, fruity, sweet Thai Oud with a persistent Oudiness that last all the way to the drydown. The drydown keeps this tangy, fruity, sweet Oudiness but with a deep woody basenote...I :coupleheart:this oud. Projection is a decent full scent bubble with one full swipe, decent silage crassna lasted me 5hours before becoming a skin scent but still lifting about one inch from the skin.
