Resident Artisan
Hello everyone, just like to introduce myself my name is Rahel Ali and I am an addict!!
Oud addict, I feel like I’m about to give a talk in an AA meeting, hahaha anyways, my journey started in 2012 when I got married into a family trade that spans generations. like a lot of you here in this forum I was instantly addicted to this beautiful ingredient, so much so I purchased 20 tolas of oud from my mother in law, almost straight away. The next few months that followed, my desire to sell this amazing ingredient just got stronger and stronger within a year I found myself purchasing £20,000 worth of Agarwood to sell in the Dubai markets.
I have been so fortunate to have mentors like my father in law and brother in law who have taught me everything I know about Agarwood & the Agarwood trade. I have gained a lot of knowledge trading with my in-laws since 2012. I spend years backwards and forward to Dubai, learning the trade, understand how to grade the wood, how to carve the wood, how to spot manipulation of the wood & oil, traveling to different countries to source the finest woods, dealing with farmers, traders, and suppliers. One of the things I’ve recognised in this industry is the lack of love and appreciation for this beautiful ingredient. Most people like it because it provides them an income, some like it because of a sense of prestige and others like it because of religious purposes
For me it gives this immense craving to sniff it again and again while at the same time for filling my carving. www.oudbase.com
