salam alaykom,

I bought 4 musk deer samples from theperfumist.com, and wanted to know if anyone knew about this site or had bought it before ?

After over 300 years of making perfumes and colognes strictly and privately for kings and royalties in the Middle East, we decided to offer our work to the public. Everything we offer is 100% limited, natural, and extremely rare. We have been working, designing and making perfumes and colognes, from father to son, for over three centuries.

The job of a Perfumist or a perfume maker in Arabic is called “Attar.” it's considered one of the oldest, hardest, and most respectable jobs.In fact, the first documented perfume made in history was in the Middle East, where the art of perfume making was refined by Arabs and Persians. Islamic culture was the main reason for the development of Western perfumery: the French took the steam distillation process from the Arabs and the world of perfumery in the West was born, with its creation indebted to two Arabic men forever: Al-Kindi, and Jābir ibn Hayyān. We belong to that school, we are not just perfume makers and collectors but we are connoisseurs and purists in one of the oldest and most sophisticated arts in the world, perfumery.

Please read the previous posts on this vendor.
Alex has personally sent me fake oils that I have sent to other vendors to verify the fact they were adulterated/ synthetic. His oud and Sandalwood are bunk.
Dhroov why don’t you try a vendor with a known track record.
The perfumest’s will blow smoke up your ass and tell you this is a bbQ! It’s not it’s just smoke up your ass

Yeah - the forum members have concluded based on numerous posts (many started similar to yours - unfortunately from folks who ordered prior to seeing the posts here first) that this guy is what I call in Yiddish - a schmegegge. A liar, jerk, makes his money by robbing people. He came on here at one point spouting off about perfuming royalty and posting all these gcms tests - but failing to see all the logical fallacies in his own writing. Many people have tried his oils - not just newcomers but veteran folks. His oils are garbage. Luckily you didn't buy much - so that's a pretty inexpensive lesson. I know folks here have had far pricier lessons in their journeys. I know I have.

The moral of the story is basically - the oud world is full of liars and cheats. Fortunately we have an amazing community here - with many different vendors and community members, and tons and tons of information and reviews.

To help point you in the right direction - maybe tell us what you are looking for and we can make some suggestions for where to start. If it's musk your after - ninja Rob with sibermusk is known to have the genuine goods. If you want more of an attar with musk - you can look at JK rising phoenix, Al Shareef oud I think still has some, etc.

Hope this helps!

You know what, thank you for educating me fellas. I found them around 8 months ago, as I was searching for a ruh gulab that would ship to Canada, and stumbled upon their INDI Rose oil. At first I really thought it was a scam, especially after looking at their “one million year old oud musk royal Sheikh bin Adbul I have made perfume for The Prophet Muhammed (MPBUH) myself” BS LMAO. So I slept on it for a while. But then I had some extra cash, so I thought let me try it out. Got it, smelt nice and natural, but unlike rose. Slightly like real rose, but nothing like an otto, abs. or an enf. I asked them what it was, and they mentioned some secret Indian recipe of abs. and otto. And me being the idiot I am, I was like “oh cool” lol. Then I purchased Teeb#1 and I have to say does smell very very nice, but I highly doubt they have real bridal cut Ta’if and all that other jazz that Ensar-description wannabe mentioned (no offence to Ensar, I actually love his stuff!). Again, I only spent 150 bones, so whatever, and I do like the smell of Teeb. But now as I read the other Roast of the Perfumist thread, I get it. They really are scammers. I’m glad I didn’t buy an oud or anything else from them for that matter, as like you guys mentioned, there are so many better options out there, and I definitely would be disappointed if I bought one of his “100 year old pieces of cow dung in carrier oil oud” (who knows? That’s probably what it is). I hope others get to see this thread before going down the same road, as I do feel kind of stupid for falling for this blasphemy, as I definitely purchase from legit vendors such as ML Ramnarian, EO, RBO, RPP, AA, etc and have been feeling confident about my knowledge of perfume ingredients. It’s like I always felt like it was a scam, but I still had hope that they are honest. I just had high hopes for the Perfumist I guess. But lesson learned!

Did they really mention the Prophet Muhammad, sallahu alaihi wasallam in that way?

Well, this much highly sarcastic comments I haven't come across on this forum. I feel if that 'more-sinned-than-sinning' perfumist unknowingly and mistakenly runs into some member, only his bones will be lying on the ground.

It is a fact the perfumist sold fake oils to two or three fellows here. It is a fact, the perfumist's oils are being sold. And it is a fact those who acquire have reasons to buying from him. And it does happen one considers a particular vendor's oils pathetic, but others consider those oils mind blowing replete with Wow scent. No vendor is who is considered 100 per cent clean. But all have their own specific market.

What I gathered from the discussion took place last year or the year before, the perfumist sells diluted or adulterated oils. This what one respected member Mr Faizal had said. Here, a guy acquires all oils offered by the perfumist, and he is a staunch proponent of him and his oils. But I prefer Mr Faizal's feedback to follow. Even then, as person, the perfumist never ever showed disrespect unto others when he was here on Ouddict.

Peace!

Ultimate disrespect is shown when your marketing claims are total lies because you are taking money from the pockets of people who do not know any better. It was false marketing and claims that led to the set-up of this forum in order to find out the truth by sharing information so that customers were not misled and so genuine knowledge and information about oud was disseminated.

Having said that, the forum discussions should stick to objective and informed analysis without resorting to name-calling or personal ridicule.

I remember a while back one user was boasting about the amount of money he made selling his products and even posted a pic of a stack. Was that him?

I should have asked you the question long before !!
thank you for your response the brothers at the beginning I was skeptical. I was struggling to take the plunge, but when I read their description of their 100 years musk as real! Exclusive (this oil is exclusive to the perfumer's house and you will not find it anywhere else), Extinct - Rarer - Can no longer be found. They are the rarest raw materials on the planet !!

and considering the price of the tonkin $ 875.00 per 3ml bottle and the kashmiri at $ 625.00 I said to myself I will still try and take the sample pack.

And the thing that surprised me the most was their green ambergris! when i asked him how does it make him green ? o_O

He responded to me :
most amber is gray or block in color when gray or black ambergris is distilled it can distilled in two way, mix and maturation and then stream distillation or CO2 extraction, if it's done through mix and maturation and then steam distillation the oil will look dark green this is due to different elements, similar to the oud oil when distilled from heavy wood specially Cambodian it will look greenish in color.
regards
Alex

but when I received the samples, it was smells that I knew and that I had already smelled before and which had not
nothing special or exclusive!
I tried them each day one by one on my arm without putting on a long sleeve sweater. And after the ablutions I don't detect any smell, no more than 2 hours !
the only one that stayed very long is the one that costs the least Siberian musk, I was really surprised compared to the others which cost more than Siberian !!
And as Andrew Salkin said that I think I'm going to go back to brother Al Shareef oud who is a very honest person from whom I bought an oud at his house at $ 720, and who then reimbursed me because I did not like too much and personally, I am not too oud.
