Yes there are people who chase hydrosol becuse they dont get the oil, but see and learn with Abu Amir how u can seperate hydrosol to oil layer by salting out with brine solution
This can also be aplied to get higher oil yield

This is beautiful, just what i needed after my first distillation big fail.

45g of ouds, 10 Hours distillation. No oil what so ever but a milky looking hydrosol.

Glass don't brake if you heat it slowly.

Brother the problem is that there are contiminTion on ur hydrosol this is not correct colour. Did u throw away the hydrosol? Other wise try salting out with saturated salt solution in big seperatory funnel in waves like 15 times and u will get seperstion to oil layer not big if u only used 45 g. And please dont use hoses they contrubate to phtalates and nasty stuff in the oil. Plastics ruber and should never be in touch with the oil vapors only chemical resistant plastics that dont leach out. I like ur setup brother true underground chemist from breaking bad want his oul so baaaaaaad goooood workkkkjj

Haha thank you, costed me about 35 dollars, the lab instruments were 10 times more expensive.
For the hose you are right, it has a very strong petroleum smell by it self.

I still have the hydrosol i'll try your technic in chaa llah and report back. we're learning with you Abu Amir

I looooovw this its so the best of the best become when trying we all begin. Yes try but the oil will not be good but only use this as lesson to perfect ur techniq

The hydrosol to be honest smells so bad, i wonder if oil will be different.
Yes always first time is sketchy, i learned that :

i need bigger Pot, oud takes a lot of volume in the pot
I don't need to put ice in the bucket for a distillation this small
Distillation is a lot of work and is time consuming
Tightness of the piping is very important, don't neglect it, i used silicon for the bucket worked very well, i used cork for the pot, had a leaking after 8 hours of distillation need to figure out something else
I think dust is not good to distill (maybe ??)

And like Hayao Miyasaki said : "i never want to regret not trying something, it's better to try and fail"

Yes dust is better as fine poweder as possible to increase surface area, and yes no leaking is better than leaking. Why dont u try presure cooker pot and exchange the safty valve with pipe to the condensor in that way u have bigger pot and tight one. I se also u use syringe to refill water in the pot u are best brother

Haha thk you.
Smallest pressure cooker i found was 2.5 litres, thought maybe it's too much for 45g of oud. As for the syringe, i think it would be better to keep the needle and hang a serum with flow regulator, could work too
