Marketplace Rules

Marketplace Rules

Last update: Sep 11, 2022

1. Marketplace Scope and Eligibility Criteria

1. Not all members can list products on the marketplace. To post a sale or wanted thread, or offer any product in response to a Wanted post by another member on the marketplace, you must meet the following criteria and anyone found to have posted on the marketplace in violation of this will be subject to a ban at the discretion of the forum management.
1. Minimum of 150 genuine posts outside the marketplace AND
     2. Membership of the forum for 6 months minimum.
2. Members who do meet the eligibility criteria above, but then come mainly to list items for sale and who do not contribute to the forum boards will have their marketplace permissions revoked without notice and their sale or wanted post removed. This is at the sole discretion of the admin and no appeals will be accepted.
@Taesik Yun @Andrew Salkin please take note of the above criteria before approving any marketplace post going forward, thank you.
3. Any oud oil or wood listed that is not purchased from a recognised Artisanal Oud vendor will not be permitted to be sold on the marketplace. the list of recognised Artisanal Oud vendors will be provided in near future, but for now as a general guide, the recognised Artisanal Oud vendors are any vendors who are currently on Ouddict, Oudimentary, Agarwood Assam, Ensar Oud, Feel Oud and Agar Aura. If you feel that your item has been produced by a company that should be on the approved list, but is not, please contact the admin first for clarification. (this rule applies to all oil-based scents, perfumes and -wood related items)
4. Listing of bulk items is not permitted without prior permission from the forum admin. Bulk items are, for example, more than 10 items in a listing and more than 2 x 2.5g or 3g bottles of the same oil. The marketplace is there for genuine private listings and not budding vendors.
5. It is not permitted to privately trade (sell, buy or swap) any items outside the marketplace, whether this is done using the other public boards on the forum or the private conversation facility. Any attempt to do so may result in a temporary or permanent ban of your account. We have had scammers try and avoid the marketplace restrictions by privately contacting members to offer items. This restriction applies to all members and any disputes arising from such transactions will not just warrant a ban of your account, but will also result in no support from the admin should you be the victim of a scam.

Rules on Listing Promotion (e.g. bumping)

1. Regarding bumping, a member will now only be able to bump a sales thread once every 5 days. So that there are no misunderstandings, any and every reply is considered bumping.  Reply in private to enquiries please.
2. If you wish to alter a price, add or remove items, mark an item sold, or anything else before the minimum of 5 days has passed, just edit your original thread. First time violations will be merged to the original post, second time violations will be deleted without warning. Repeat offenders may have their marketplace access restricted.
3. Members are allowed a single active thread for oud sales and a single active thread for blends/perfumes. If a second concurrent thread is opened, we will merge the newer thread into the older.

Listing Sabotage and/or Low-Balling

1. Be courteous when buying or selling, and use common sense.
2. The forum does not dictate the price of any given item and operates a market place based on free market principles. The sense of fairness is subjective and a seller has the right to ask for whatever price they deem appropriate just as a buyer has the right to negotiate and turn down the trade or sale.
3. Valid and and civil inquiries regarding any sale are welcome. Inquiries that go beyond the scope of the sale are not; off topic comments are also not welcome. Any replies to sales threads that are off topic or that we consider badgering will be deleted.
4. No thread-lowballing. If you think someones price is unreasonable or you want to make a lower offer, PM or e-mail them.  Members are not permitted to post public remarks regarding the price of a product or to negotiate in public, but are permitted to do this only via private conversation.  If a member feels that the price of a listed item is putting other members at an unfair disadvantage, then contact the owner privately or the forum management. Violation of this rule will most likely result in a marketplace ban for the offender.
5. Negative and public remarks about the price of an item will be considered an attempt to ruin the sale of an item and will attract severe penalties against the offending member including a possible suspension or permanent ban from the marketplace or the forum.

Listing General Management

1. When your item or items are sold, please edit the thread title to add "[SOLD]" in the title. It is useful for prospective buyers to know whether they should open a thread to read or not.
2. It is not allowed to add, or remove items on the existing sales post(s).
3. Edit of the sales post is only allowed for typo corrections. for the price adjustment, adding or removing photos, use replies.
4. List the payment methods accepted (IE. Paypal CC or non-CC, Money order, Check). Keep in mind that Ouddict has members from all around the world, so currency exchange rates may play a factor in the price of an item, and how the item is paid for.
5. Post item condition (weight) and any images of the item (if available). Be as descriptive as possible when posting an item for sale or trade.
6. All listings must include individual photos of the actual items for sales.  Using photos of other items or from other listings that do not belong to you may result in a permanent ban from the marketplace or/and the forum.
7. Make the title as descriptive as possible so people know what it is they are looking at.
8. Please post a price in for ALL For Sale deals. If you aren't sure how much you want for it, give a range. Please avoid using "make an offer".
9. When posting a WTB (Want to Buy), include a price or price range that you are willing to pay for the item. This allows potential sellers to easily decide if they can sell the item to you.
10. You cannot sell/trade something you do not have in your immediate possession.
11. Please refrain from posting external links to describe your item. Add all relevant information to your thread and you can link externally as long as previous rules are met.

Dispute Resolution

1. In general when using the marketplace, the principle of Caveat Emptor applies.  Caveat emptor is a Latin phrase that translates to "let the buyer beware." It means that an individual buys at their own risk.  If you are unsure about a trade for any reason, let the forum management know before any money is sent.
2. All trades are conducted at the participants risk and Ouddict does not accept any responsibility for trades.
3. Ouddict does not provide legal support and shall not arbitrate in disputes if these rules have not been followed.
4. Ouddict is run by volunteers who can no longer spend increasing time on dispute resolution and we rely on the goodwill and honesty of its members to follow the rules.  Therefore, we will enforce marketplace rules very strictly against those who break them and any infringement will most likely result in a marketplace ban.
5. The following rules are subject to change at any given time, although the forum admins will mostly notice at least a week ahead of any changes.

Listing Feedback (once operational)

1. Leaving feedback in the trader feedback system is mandatory for all trades and swaps and is a condition of use of the marketplace. Any member not leaving feedback after a transaction may have their marketplace posting and viewing permissions withdrawn.
2. Feedback MUST include the following information:                                                                                                                         a. Vendor, name, quantity condition of the item sold or purchased, e.g. Rising Phoenix Musk Rose Attar, 3g, unopened.                                                                                                                                                     b. Listed and Final price of sale or purchase, e.g. Listed @ $300, sold @ $275                                                                                                                                         c. Description of your experience, e.g. xxxx was great to deal with, good communication, fair and very quick postage. Would not hesitate to purchase from this member again.

The example would read as follows:

Purchased a bottle of Rising Phoenix MuskRose Attar, 3g, unopened for $300. [Member] was great to deal with, good communication, fair, and very quick postage. Would not hesitate to purchase from this member again.

Please note that this system is for providing feedback to private sellers only and not vendors

If you are unsure about any of the rules above, then please first contact the admin to clarify if your listing is allowed as listings that break this rule will be deleted without notice.
