Assalamu Alaykm and hello everyone! Hope you've all been doing well.

You guys gotta bear with me, I'm kinda stuck out in the middle of nowhere and barely have a solid enough internet connection to upload. :Roflmao: Anyways, with the advent of our new origin series, which serves the purpose of exploring the relation/conversion of wood aroma to oil aroma, we have a special offering you'll all come to love.

Without further ado, I present to you:

    Ruh Silan

    Sri Lanka, 2018
An ingenious last minute decision, somethings are just meant to be.

The first few Walla Patta distillations we tried were distilled for three days on low heat, capturing only the top-notes, and resulted in a lovely delicate Walla Patta aroma. But they all were missing something, and that’s when Ahmad suggested to increase the heat a tiny increment after the top notes were juiced out. Lo and behold, Ruh Silan, literally, the soul of Ceylon.

This isn’t going to be your archetypal Walla Patta with pretty notes of Guava, grapes, mango. Yes, you will find some of those notes present, but only because Ruh Silan is a literal conversion of wood profile to oil profile. The scent of fumigating Walla Patta chips captured and poured into a bottle.

The oceanic breeze, the airy fruitiness, the dry fibered behavior. This isn’t a loud Oud that’ll scream with every swipe. If it was, it wouldn’t smell like Walla Patta wood. Ruh Silan is delicate, just as the finer delicate nuances experienced when heating wood on low-heat.

And of course, if we’re going to make the claim that Ruh Silan smells like Walla Pattta wood, we’re going to include some Walla Patta wood to prove it!

If you’re thinking about thanking the Al Hashimi team for converting the Walla aroma from wood to oil, please don’t. Instead, thank Ahmad for this one and enjoy Ruh Silan!
