This is a podcast from a colleague of mine, Andrew Miles. It’s about Chinese Medicine - and it pertains directly to some of the work I do, especially as it relates to Gu Syndrome.

However - I find it especially pertinent to those of us here, as we understand Fumigation (incense burning) and Aromatics to be something more than simply the appreciation of scent.

Listening to this will give you a whole new perspective on my work and the products I make ;)

Removing Hidden Dampness is at the root of many psychological conditions and is strongly associated with ghosts and monsters in Chinese culture. Many of the ghost chasing methods involve antifungal herbal methods. Some of them, like shi chang pu and ai ye, are considered the sword and whip for chasing away evil spirits. Could their volatile oils provide some explanation into the supernatural?

Interesting how she fumigates the inside of the fermentation pot with incense.
