Marketplace Notice - Important - Please Read

Following a previous announcement made a few months prior, the marketplace is going to become chargeable and is being suspended until the changes take effect. The suspension is to prevent a rush of sellers listing as many items as possible beforehand and crashing the market.

There are three main reasons for the change.

1. To stop the forum being used as a free eBay by members who sell and disappear without any contribution to the general boards.

2. To balance the forum funding - vendors vs members

3. To encourage more activity on the main boards from members.

The charge will take effect from 1st July and will be a one-off $35 per member for use of the marketplace until 31st December, 2019. Given the volume and price of most sales, this is a token charge. Note that this gives access to the whole Marketplace section.

I am planning to totally upgrade and overhaul the marketplace to enable auctions and the like from next January after which the payment structure will be changed to a per-listing basis.

Exemptions.
The following are exempt from payment:
1. Ouddict Staff Members - Admin and Moderators
2. Members with more than 1000 posts are exempt from paying any marketplace charge.

Current Sales Threads.
Current for sale posts will not be removed for a three day period after the 1st July, 2019, but the sellers who have not subscribed will not be able to edit their threads as they will not have permission to edit or post on the Marketplace. Members can still PM them if interested in wares.

After the 3rd July, all listings from unsubscribed members will be removed.

Current Wanted Threads.
These will remain as they are and not be removed. However a Marketplace subscription will be required to post a new thread anywhere on the Marketplace after 1st July, 2019.

As mentioned above, the marketplace charges were to be dropped at the end of 2019 and changed to a commission-based per-listing basis. However the software required to reliably action this is proving difficult to implement, so for now, we are...

LIFTING ALL MARKETPLACE CHARGES UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

= NO MARKETPLACE CHARGE

Please note that we will be monitoring the marketplace for the following:

1. Any Oud oil or wood listed that is not purchased from a recognised Artisanal Oud vendor will not be permitted to be sold on the marketplace. The recognised Artisanal Oud vendors are any vendors who are currently on Ouddict, Oudimentary, Agar Aromas, Agarwood Assam, Ensar Oud, Feel Oud and Agar Aura. If you feel that your item has been produced by a company not on this list, but should be, please contact the admin first for clarification.

2. Members who come solely to list items for sale and who do not contribute to the forum boards will have their marketplace permissions revoked without notice and their post removed. This is at the sole discretion of the admin and no appeals will be accepted.

3. Listing of bulk items is not permitted without prior permission from the forum admin. Bulk items are for example, more than 10 items in a listing and more than 2 bottles of the same oil. The marketplace is there for genuine private listings and not budding vendors.

If you are unsure about any of the rules above - they have also been posted to the Marketplace Rules section which is also in force, then please first contact the admin to clarify if your listing is allowed as listings that break this rule will be DELETED WITHOUT NOTICE.
