Yes a very viscous whitish oil.
Distinct white residue in the bottle.

I bought this in 2008/2010 so it's actually quite old!

I remember that at the time Sharif Laroche claimed that it was the best Ambergris on the market...

I believed in it and you still learn every day.

Thanks for this useful information MP but just how did you detect the materials they made this with?
To me it smells very simple like there was almost nothing in it at all other than Clary, a thick carrier of some kind, and ambroxide. I don't know the chemical fragrances very well so I could be way off there are lots of different similar ambergris type molecules. Also different brands produce ambroxide by different processes and refined it to different degrees so it can smell very different depending on who you get it from, even though it's all being sold as the same chemical. I'm not 100% confident in my break down of that oil but I think you might find it was very close. Apologies if I made it seem like I had more knowledge than I really do. I have a bottle of it somewhere, but mine came from Majid. Assuming I didn't throw it out, I can take a look at it and try to make the blend that I described and see if it is close.

It's exasperating because somebody saying something like that can really set somebody off of their path to understanding fragrance for quite some time. I wonder if he didn't know the difference and believed what Majid was telling him or wherever he got it from or if it was deliberate obfuscation. Water under the bridge at this point

@Mr.P
Ok thanks, will definetly try this out! If there's any chance I can get this scent or anything similar to this again, I'd love to try it.

A white residue was never in my about 8 bottles I ordered of this over time. Also the longevity was very good. The color was very light and slightly gold I'd say.

I also bought the Ambergris disoriented, which smells almost exactly the same, but goes for 119% the 3ml, it's just a bit weaker.

I always thought it was authentic, at least it smelled very different from all the cheap Ambergris Attars I ever bought before. I tried many other ambergris attars from them as well, none were as good as this one.

There was one Kashmir amber which smells to fecal, still have it here, I don't wanna throw it.

The Egyptian musk is reviewed by the buyers of Etsy with 5 stars, it's also the cheapest, I find it rather boring just as that 30$ musk, that they gave as sample, which smells very weak and rather soapy, absolutely nothing like real musk.

I'm curious to try out the suggested recipe - thanks again!

@Mr.P

It's not that easy to find ambroxide powder to order here in Germany, but I find ambroxan powder - is that comparable or maybe even the same under another name?
