Sampled Hayati today by Amphora Exotica, an all-natural perfume by Sundar Rayhan.
Hayati opens with a bright and happy orange with just a hint of cardamom in the background. A combination of roses appears with a slight suggestion of sensuality, likely the substantial dose of ambergris, giving at times this pleasant “inner thigh of your perfumed lover” kinda vibe.
The roses quickly become flanked by jasmine and boronia becoming a jammy rose and berry compote, almost heading gourmand. A whisper of resinous oud and creamy sandal trade off dominance as the base begins to show itself.
During the long dry down, the rose and boronia/jasmine combo morphs into kind of a purple rose with hints of saffron alongside the oud, sandal and ever-present sparkle of ambergris.
This fragrance feels beautiful and refined, yet happy, even playful at times - just like love, which was the perfumer’s inspiration for this fragrance.
