Oud Beginner
I have to say I’m a little confused. I’m new this world, but I’m surprised to see many people in many comments talking about big brands like ASAQ, Ajmal, etc. because I know that they’re not the best quality, so why are people in this community buying from them? I know most of their stuff is full of synthetics/chemicals.

I know that synthetic doesn’t always equal bad and some artisans have to use them in very limited quantities like Sultan Pasha, but over all I’d like to avoid them. With that said, is it safe to say that the perfums sold by the sellers on this forum are not full of chemicals? I know they use alcohol but aside from that, they really shouldn’t be adding a bunch of synthetics and junk, right? Is there anyway to know as I’ve noticed almost none of them provide any sort of ingredients list..

Also, I know oud is the main thing this community is about, but I just really want some quality, chemical free bakhoor and I’m struggling to find that on here that’s not ungodly expensive. How can I find it?

Please be gentle with me, I couldn’t be more new to the world of real oud..

try al haramain, I don't know where you're based, however they have branches all over the world and online shipping. They are a nice company to deal with as offer a nice Camobodi oud essential oil which you could out in a water free diffuser or even a tea-light candle driven aromatherapy burner, the latter being as cheap as chips to run and purchase. The cambodi Oud is a nice large bottle. I broke mine (although it's tough solid glass) by heating the bottle in boiling water to get the lid off as somehow it got so tightly on no one could open it. The happy accident (no broken glass) was water and cambodi oud floating around the house, absolutley stunning. I quickly transferred the original bottle to 3ml bottle's and got around 3-4 or so as I recall so around 12ml full bottle. I kept the water as well in a larger bottle, though as is well know, water does not last without preservatives for more than a few days.
Last time I looked the Cambodi, it was around £200 online (more in person in places like Saudi Arabia). It will quench your thirst for a natural fragrance, will be economical in the longer run, and I reccomend Al haramain as a nice entry (and probably beyond) level trader to deal with as they also offer their own brand fragrances, empty bottles of various sizes (roll on and dip sticks) so you can really get creative. I think they do sell bakhoor so your heart is still set on that, drop them an email and find out which is closest to your requirements.

Russian Adam has a YouTube video where he tells us he verified the purity of Ajmal. Their oud oils are 100% oud oil. He praised them as being the top brand. But they do sell some oud oils in the back room only to certain clientele. If you go to their stores you may need to convince them that you have money to spend and you want better oils. My friend and others confirmed this.

Russian Adam also sent another brand's oil to the lab for testing, but this brand tested positive for synthetics. Russian Adam refused to tell us who this was. All he said was this brand was famous and popular. Allahu a'lam who it is. I have my suspicions.

Actually he had two products GCMS tested of Ajmal and a few others from other affordable brands and only the two Ajmal were of purity

Those two were

Denh al Oudh Moattaq 60ml spray
And Denh al Oudh Shams

I had a nice conversation with Adam shortly after he posted his findings

Brother, With all due respects, No commercial brand can sell pure oil without and blending or fillers, please take it from someone who has worked in the middle east perfumery business for 26 years and still there. How is it possible to continue a branded dehnal oud for 15+ years knowing well that it is a natural product and is scarce. how can one claim that it is the same batch of oil being used unless chemical blending and synthetics were used to populate the batch.

Ajmal has their own agarwood farm in india. more than 10 million agarwood trees.

I believe asq, alharamain and many others are like that. But others like sokkat alteeb are not.
sokkat , mokhlif, batalat and thulaim are good but not all their products. @mobyus is an expert on their offerings, I always go by his recommendations from these houses. They are real as their stock of a particular oil gets sold out and does not get repeated which means they are selling single batch oils.

And I am not referring to ajmal here but In general , all the ME based oriental perfumery brands .
Yes most of the middle eastern brands do this but not everything ajmal sells is synthetic there higher end oil are not synthetic but you will have to pay for it

Also many wholesalers sell for a good price and it’s pure

There is another brand anfar al oud they also have thier oud oils gcms tested obviously these oils are not artisanal level but the point here is the purity
For me nothings beats a traditionally distilled Hindi oud oil ( has to be pure though )
