I think however what it will do, inadvertently is bifurcate the audience into serious collectors and the general audience of aromatic enthusiasts. Serious collectors ... I don't know if I fall into that category or not, but they purchase far beyond their consumption. If the intent of Kangiiten is to allow everyone to have a fair share, within their members, I think that's where they'll hit a stumbling point.

Yup, I agree - the statement below jumped out at me too - we've all seen it / likely experienced it ourselves, excessive consumption and buying too much!

Kangiiten is not about accumulation.
It is about continuity, access, and trust—a shared pace between maker and collector.

I appreciate the explanation. They don't have to say anything though. If that's the model they want to follow, go for it. It's their business when it comes down to it not ours.
I dunno, doesn't feel like they're saying anything. "We've got customers from day 1, older customers and other people who try to rip us off and/or complain"

Personally, I don't need a new sub. Has anyone even seen the sub they'll be giving away? That means I'll be having to pay close to $300 AUD just to get a look in. I'd have been just as happy with free shipping for the membership. I was a serious customer. I just can't justify that entry ticket. Looks like I'm back to waiting up till midnight, refreshing the page every minute.
Yea pretty much agree, Sub is useless for me, they should have given other options, i would consider subbing if they replace it for me with 3 times free shipping as they only use DHL for Kuwait and it cost around 79-85$.

Especially with how fast kangiiten products run out, sometimes seconds, I’m not really surprised they’ve done this feels slightly annoying as your best bet to get the good products now is probably to get it. These types of subscriptions always annoy me because you’re not paying to get it early but paying to get it the normal time, and if you don’t pay you get it late and probably sold out.
It didn't work for me. I bought the membership but I didn't realize they put stuff up randomly the night before a restock. The sandalwood/ambergris perfume looked very interesting. It didn't go up all day yesterday. When I got up this morning it was sold out, well before the 9 a.m. restock opening my time.

I'm not going to stay up all night refreshing a web page. That's insane.

There's only one on the site. It's either this one or they found a cheaper one to give away.

Well, now that you've paid for the year you'll be able to make better use of it next drop in a few months.

I think the way it worked was that the store was open for “members” 24hrs before the general public sales went live.

As far as I understood, you could request early access if your time zone difference was a problem, or there were other issues. So in the end, maybe they decided to monetize that access. For optics sake, they could have said "Buy our subitism and get early access for a year". I think this would have been easier to digest.
The early access is a joke, because the products aren't there. When they put the products out is a surprise. If someone is dedicated enough to spend 18 hours staring at the site and refreshing the page, then sure, membership would be great. But that's crazy at my age. When I was 20 and wanted concert tickets, sure.

Are you sure? Apparently there was a “members” portal that had all the new stuff lined up inside, they weren’t listed under the new category. Maybe drop them an email.

Yes, I'm sure. The products started trickling out at random intervals the day before. It wasn't so much as a portal as another subhead on the site. The problem was that there was no announced time for the various products to hit the site. And there wasn't enough for all the members. It sold out before it opened up to all access.

Yeah I'd be sending them an email about that. It's a new practice for them so clearly there are some bugs to be worked out. As a paying member, you shouldn't have to just guess when stuff is available. I mean you're literally paying for the privilege to not have to guess.

Ha. Crossed messages. See my last one to you.

Oh, it was you who suggested the email! Sorry not to credit you 😁 I was tempted to refer to this discussion in the email but held off.

Free shipping would be great. But that's real money and adds up the more you buy. A subitism is a one-time cost, and no where near the $260 they charge for it.
