Having bought 3 different SQ Civet pastes from Faheem @Oudique, I would like to give my take on them, including Civet al Qamar.

The first I had bought was the floral zabad, which I had also mentioned in another post as being like a hyper-realistic gardenia to my nose, or at least that’s where it takes my mind for whatever reason. This one is the least animalic of the 3, with the florals being the focus, yet in the dry down the unmistakable warmth of the beautiful aged civet is undeniably there, working to take the florals into overdrive. This one also has a very musky dry down which I cannot get enough of. 🤤

Next, I added Oud Civet. This paste is more animalic than the floral zabad, and what is interesting about it is that I don’t really get a lot of oud from it. It definitely has some woodiness, but primarily I get the aged civet which translates to beautiful warm floral notes, but without having actual florals added to it. This is the one I would consider a great base for layering at times, although it is also beautiful all on its own.

Last, but definitely not least, I added the Civet al Qamar, which I believe translates to “Civet of the Night” if I am not mistaken? This is a very fitting title for it as this paste is most definitely the most animalic and is truly a "dark" powerhouse.

When I first received this one, I made the mistake of diving right in after opening the parcel and my first impression was whoa, there is no way I can wear this one. 🤣 After airing it a bit and letting it cool/rest, I revisited it in the days that followed. Now, I completely love it. Not sure if it is due to my nose adjusting, or the paste settling post-travel, or a combo of both, but either way, my advice on this one is to let it breathe a bit and cool off if you live in a hot area, before you form an initial opinion on it.

Now, when I visit it, I am greeted with wonderful balance of warm civet, musky oud, precious ambery resins, and light floral aspects, although I am not sure if there are florals added or if that is the civet alone. Something about this paste also reminds me of dates.

All 3 of these Civet Pastes are truly amazing and honestly are causing my oils to be neglected pretty badly lol. From my first impression of Civet al Qamar, I didn’t think I would be buying more, and next thing you know I went for another 3gr…
All of them are seriously addictive, and a very small amount goes a long way.

Thanks @Ouderriffic for the detailed reviews 😍

Cultivated Green Kinam carries the unmistakable kinamic spirit while born from carefully tended trees. Its fragrance opens with a vibrant green brightness- cool, minty, and herbaceous-before deepening into resinous waves of gentle bitterness and crystalline sweetness.

Hainan Oud Shavings

The scent profile is marked by a smooth resinous core with gentle kinamic bitterness, layered over clean, cooling green notes. Hainan's signature profile leans toward sweet balsamic resin, faint herbal sharpness, and a mineral-like clarity, finishing with a refined bitterness that lingers on the palate.

I just received my gram of the SQ Civet Zabad Al Qamar and it's off the charts! My first time with a product such as this. I have questions though.. what is it exactly? Is it a perfume or an attar? What category does it come under? Also how and where on my person should I apply it? It's strong stuff.
