Malaysia is where the greatest oils have hailed from, the most resinous, incense-evoking oils, which open up the soul of the heartwood they come from. The wood used to distil these phenomenal oils is largely finished, and what remains lies far too deep in the jungle to be worth collecting.
It is a perilous journey, evading animals, terrain and climate, weeks' worth of effort, quite often for little to no reward. Today we see almost no batches like those of yesteryear. Collectors are holding on to them for the future, and batches like this are the holy grail as far as the oud world is concerned.
In an ever-changing world, we have been very fortunate to be entrusted with some of the most pristine batches of wood, such as Iriani, Silani and now this beautiful West Malaysian ant nest batch.
Each and every piece is solid, dense and naturally filled to the brim with resin. The dream of any collector, this is Malaysian oud wood at its best.
