nice thoughts 🙂Oooof. What a trip it has been. I return from the deep end. Coming off a few week long heavy oil wear to no oil and only incense stick and wood studies.
Started couple weeks ago with a few days of monkoh study technique applied to a dozen frankincense and other resins. Then moved to various agarwood themed evenings. From same species but different locale monkoh sessions to same area same specifies various vendor/grade. Lots learned still…
Last couple nights were kyara studies along with proper old growth vietnam/cambodi/Chinese kinam agars and also few Chinese kinams. 29 different kyara, 11 agars and 4 Chinese kinams.
Most of the kyara are meiko pieces. Small cuts from a named larger piece that comes with poetry and write up by kodo master who graded it. These pieces were 5 purple, 13 green oil, 2 yellow, 9 black oil and 2 white kinams. And oooh buncha cultivated various category were tried as well. Which is a joke. While pleasent and possibly superior to some newer find agarwoods, the real deal Japanese certified pieces are a whole different galaxy.
Named pieces are known for having a twist or uncategorizable unique profile on top or along the textbook classification telltales.
What a privilege and what luck for me to be able to be humbled so many times again and again in front of such gifts of nature. The strong feelings some of these finer pieces emit is nothing short of medicine and magic. Some instantly bring nostalgia while others excite and exhilarate. Some numb. Some elevate. Some keep you in balance of both. Floating transcendence. One gets a 60s cannabis like brain space. Mellow.
Retiring to oils have intense wood studies is always been fruitful for me. I found even more respect for cr Retain oils. Kyara ltd 2.0, Royal kinam, nha trang ltd, pusong ltd, hailam, … are in deed tier of oils that the Woodstock must have been nothing short of god tier woods.
On that note I like to conclude that many many agarwoods trump some kyaras. The dynamics or otherwise monotone character of some agarwoods truly fascinate more than even some good kyaras. The type of wood that these days tends to be 90-25 usd a gram. But I have wood in my stash as low as $17 a gram that I consider belonging into the aforementioned tier. Good news either way is that price of entry is fair esp with group buys. 2 grams of a fine agarwood is plenty. 0.5 is in fact more so than you may use a lifetime. A little powder goes a long way.
Enjoy friends.

you need a new adapter probably.None....! I went to burn some kinam on Friday that I'd bought from Ed over a year ago, and my heater's not working! I last turned the power on at the wall with the voltage in an "on" position, which I never do - and it just didn't make the wires below the mica plate bit glow no matter the output.
I always have the voltage set to 0 when I turn it on at the wall, not sure if I messed it up here!
If you can still toggle the adapter voltage and doesn't feel that the coil is heating up then based on the scenario you mentioned, I'm assuming the female power jack adapter plug wires might have burned.None....! I saw that one in the shop! What is it like?Eight Millennium powder incense (from KZ),
Sandalwood (slightly mineralic and watery), some other woods and probably a touch of warm spices. Then I get a white/grey melon-like (the one with green inside) smell behind its woody framework. It's fruity smell reminds me of sakura mochi I had many years ago.I saw that one in the shop! What is it like?
