[Ouddict.com] Burn of the Day

Burning some Vintage sinking Silani … one of my fav regions burn and oil wise …

Nippon Kodo Borneo

The profile of today’s piece was quite different, it opened similar to Vietnamese and at the heart an orange note bloomed.

I never know what to expect from piece to piece with these Kizami granules.

Fumigating the garage that came along with the house I just moved into

This is tigray frankincense (B. papyrifera) from wild tree essentials. Not sure if they still exist.

The (cast iron) burner is a bit of a mystery. I found it when I was a kid in a drawer in my parents’ house in Brooklyn back in the late 70’s. The patina hasn’t changed much since I first found it other than smoke deposits on the jaws. I assume it’s a simulated antique.

My parents had no idea where it came from and didn’t have any interest in it. When I was old enough to realize what it was, I used it to burn frankincense. If you put a cone in it, or a stick in a certain way, it’s one of those reverse flow situations where the smoke pours down from the mouth like water.

Obviously, that doesn’t happen if you put a coal in it because the whole thing just gets hot and the smoke rises like normal. I assume this was a housewarming gift or something along those lines, but i really have no idea.

Ahhh, thanks brother! I tried 2 1960's Burmese with Rasoul, and I thought this was one of them! One of them was a Burmese Sinensis. Both produced amazing colours on the mind when gently heated. They were the highlight of the session for me. Let one of us know how it goes with your friend!

I love that last picture!

Some Brunei Microcarpa from Al Hashimi.
Great stuff 🙂

I am burning Habz' latest Sinking Sri Lankan that I got yesterday. Man, this stuff still HITS. SO. HARD.
Burning a very small piece at <12v and just getting smacked over the face with this deep, aquatic smell that just melts my brain. I have wood from Habz that I bought in 2019, 2020, 2021 and now 2023, all different batches (I believe!) but all are up there as my absolute favourite woods (tying with sinking Phillipines wood; got some that Al Hashimi first offered and also a bit from Habz too, way back in 2018)
