Quintis - Santalum Album Powder. Indian sandalwood plantation located in Western Australia. Quintis grow both the Album & Spicatum varieties.
This powder is very nice for plantation Indian Sandalwood grown in Australia! The usual buttery, creamy, spicy tones yet missing the white floral notes I often find in high quality Mysore. The bottom note is a caramelised crème brûlée vanilla, very sweet & delicious!

NK Vietnamese and Borneo
but today’s pieces were not that great,
so I heated some Shoyeido Matsu
from a chunk that I know is super fragrant.
Now I’m satisfied😊

Yesterday at work, I was imagining the smell of heated agarwood. Sometimes I really crave it.

And one time in my dreams, I had a vivid sense of smelling heated agarwood. Capturing smell in a dream doesn’t happen very often for me.

Question: Have you ever grabbed a chunk that you knew was going to be a good piece, place it on the Sub at a low setting and quickly turn it off because; A. It started sweating profusely at 10v and B. smelled way too good for what you're doing?

Just cut a nice flat piece of sinking Filly I got from @YusaAromatics a long time ago and sat down to eat....no, this is something I need to be quiet and meditative so I'm saving it now for my morning prayer time. Wow, it's so distinctive.

I burned a bit of a malinau from Wardlab. This is really interesting stuff - classic rich minty Borneo vibe, and a nice dry down - woody and salty with a little bite. Slight labdanum note as well. Very interesting stuff, wish I had some oils with this profile.

Reminds me of the borneo 3000 scent.

Bao Tou sinensis from hainan thanks to Wardlab.

Very interesting… it is a sweet sinensis oil and fills space with a sweet appealing scent in much the way that CK wood does… HOWEVER, there is much more going on with this wood.

I would need to burn a couple more times to give a good description, but there is some complexity and wildness to the first wave of scent - as if it has been around for a while, and I imagine it in the forest and soaked up some of the scent of the soils and trees. After that first wave passes, it shifts into mouthwatering appealing sweet sinensis mode. Under controlled heating this can scent a space for a looong time, and i found the lingering notes to be appealing and long lasting

Kali Luv - The Oud Lab.

Unreleased sinking Kalimantan. A attractive piece with lots of resin evident. Beautiful aroma; mint, flowers, as the wood continues to bubble the scent develops becoming dark resinous, spicy, honeyed, ending with the vanilla / coumarin bottom note. These chips are packed with oil & require very little heat to bubble. Zero off notes, nothing spikey just pure Oud resin beauty.

All of the wood AT sells have been selected with great thought, the pieces look attractive & are beautifully cleaned but most importantly the aroma is always spot on!

I’m hopeless at describing woods. Oils are far easier to discern, the progression is more easily observed than the ephemeral nature of assessing an aroma in the air. But still I try haha.
