Looked back through this thread - I was surprised at the fact that there really are only a handful of people posting on this particular thread. Is it that most folks here are looking for oils / attars as opposed to incense?

I am burning some west kalimantan from maunamoku today.

Still getting to know it but there is some deep satisfying resinous quality in the early part of the burn that shifted me into a different state of consciousness in the sense of being drawn in and immersed in the aroma.

It is continuing to emit resinous dry sophisticated aroma as it lingers on the burner. No cat lick scent (which I am noticing in other ouds from the region). This is an Indonesian oud I would enjoy burning due to the clean profile.

Very nice!!

Merauke on the candle heater ,smells wonderful and seems to put off a great scent for a long time .
Really can’t recommend this heater enough , it’s cheap and looks cool sitting on the desk or table , no ash like a coal or cord to plug in like the sub.
Great performance!!

Sunday morning, beautiful blue sky & sunshine in Melbourne. Still cold however, it doesn’t really start heating up until late October although we’ve had a few random 28 degree Celsius days during the last 2 weeks.

Merauke AQ from The Oud Lab. Very beautiful looking wood, big chocolate brown shiny chunks. It’s shame one has to break these pieces down. Obviously, the aroma is the most important part of the Oud experience, however I love the aesthetics of the collecting process also.
Green, floral, earthy, no fruit & the sweetness is low . An austere profile. Definitely a nice early morning choice, paired with a strong espresso to get the day started.

I’ve noticed this, also. There seems to more people interested in discussing oils as opposed to woods / incense.
Currently, I’m heating woods more than wearing oils. I still use oils from time to time, but wood has my full attention as I’m trying to refine my nose & hopefully get a better understanding of how to evaluate incense.

My heater is on my dinner table so I have to choose to go and sit there and do nothing in order to "listen" to wood. I should do it more often to get more "present" - I'm often sitting on the sofa, using my computer (watching crap on youtube) so stepping away from that more often would be good

I have been burning more incense lately and less woods , the Ouddict groups are very small in each of its focus categories with only a handful of active users in each category regularly engaging. I wish there was more member engagement with things like oud of the year , or oud fest or something similar. Seems like a lot more engagement occurs on Instagram and other platforms, maybe Ouddict should be active on some of these as a way to help people find Ouddict. Our community is growing vendors faster than Members. I honestly get more value as a member than as a vendor because I actually buy from a lot of different vendors for my personal use while only 10% of my sales are made on Ouddict . This website was much more active and engaging in the past and seems to have lost a lot of members.

Yamadamatsu "tiger cane" it is Vietnamese and i am clueless of the region! such a beautiful composition in this wood at 80c its pure white flowers, pear, frankincense, purple kinam, and a veeeery light lemon/lime haze...the sweetness in this wood is gorgeous. incredible relaxing effects and IT IS 10000% THAT AGARWOOD IS MEDICINAL like pain killer/ muscle relaxing medication I was in a dreamy state for hours in my own little world driving around and going to the supermarket thinking that it is without a doubt almost drug like and that i feel bad for people who their brain and nervous system isnt connected to the receptors that give these effects from agarwood...after lunch i slept like a baby bird and all this just by smelling this stuff 2 minutes straight, one minute on 80 and one minute on 140. 140 was a much more potent fume of the above stated but with an added bitterness. i do feel like my memory is a bit bombed i am not connected to all the things that were on my mind the past week and i am having a bit of a puzzle trying to remember what things were occupying my mind lately and conflicting me...i dare say even disconnecting me from memory in general for some time after each session maybe 1whole day or 2

I feel like those social media platforms have definitely drained the traditional forums, and that’s probably where a lot of the people are when I find myself scratching my head and wondering where everybody went…

Is it just antiquated logic to not want to sign up for these invasive platforms? That’s not a rhetorical question. I’m actually looking for advice. I use duck duck go and I’ve never signed up for Twitter, Instagram or Facebook, yet I use Gmail… am i fooling myself that this actually accomplishes anything??

I find the scent of Sandalwood to be deeply calming and centering - it pretty much causes me to breathe deeply, settle my mind, and focus on just the aroma. the experience of that fragrance and this type of focused singleminded appreciation is
meditative

It feels more active here the past ~6 months to me. I think it'd be a bit strange to try and get people here, unless we start an ouddict page? The other alternative would have to be commenting on people's pictures to reference this site, could be a bit spammy?
