It feels more active here the past ~6 months to me. I think it'd be a bit strange to try and get people here, unless we start an ouddict page? The other alternative would have to be commenting on people's pictures to reference this site, could be a bit spammy?
is there an ouddict on facebook?

“Kezi” sinensis from ward lab. This one is different than the other sinensis I have burned - this one is a little darker, something mysterious going on in addition to the sweet sinensis notes. The ck sinensis is like youthful beauty - stunning on one level, but a kind of universal generic beauty. The kezi is like that same beauty with a graduate degree - still beautiful but with another layer of sophistication and developed beauty. There seems to be a lot going on beneath the surface here and I will need more time with this one.

First impression is very positive!
Thanks for the honest and insightful reviews. I think I’m gonna specialize in Sinensis and Crassna, love the profiles of those. When I get some of the Yunnan Diao Kou inbound I’ll hook you up with a sample. Malinau is probably the only Malaccensis I can roll with, and if you like that particular sample, my Dayak hunter sends that same wood to wise distiller that lives in Java. I’ll send you a quarter tola when the chance comes. Love hearing you describe scent. ❤️🌸💐

Just had to respond because in oil form, that's the sort of golden triad I've found myself gravitating to the most! Have yet to experience the burn profile though!

Agreed that @Mr.P 's description was quite enjoyable, the sophisticated beauty part had me recalling grad school. Can't confirm if I came out sophisticated or with just more white hair, and a perpetual shortage of employment experience to age, and a thesis title I pray I don't have to explain to recruiters 😅

[Ouddict.com] Burn of the Day

Khasi hills, Megalaya, India
sweet cookie, vanilla.

The Attar Store - Viet Incense its just a perfect oud for me. Smells on lower heat like a creamy natural vanilla shake. On higher heat it shows leathery facets but I would recommend enjoying it on lower heat. I like linear perfumes because you know what you smell and what you will get later 😋

I put a chunk of Leyte sinking after it and wooow. My nose couldnt follow all the transitions. Starts floral like a bright garden on low heat and then more nuances join and it reminded me of Kangiiten Cultivated Kinam I heated before. Then some vanilla sweet wafts and on higher heat, you get a traditional woody incensy smell which still switches here and there between the floral and sweet aspects. Just look at this chunk swimming on the Mica.

ps. I wanted to attach the video but I have to download an extension? I couldnt fix for now. So only pics😅

“Kezi” sinensis guangdong china from Wardlab

This one has a pretty distinct profile - some labdanum / animalic aspect in the initial cloud on a subitism along with some interesting dry mineral notes that reminds me of a note i have smelled in baieido incense. This seems to like a higher temperature and some really nice bittersweet heavy oud notes as well as some other interesting notes as it warms up… interesting oud and one I enjoy burning. Seems like there is a fair amount going on in this wood and I look forward to some more sessions with this

Night burn, first time trying
ASO Century Old Mysore Chunk

So happy to get some,
buttery sandalwoodiness with just the slightest hint of fruit up top.
So far, it is my favorite followed by
EO 70’s Mysore.
I can't get over how fragrant those chunks are, I put them on around 12v on the heater I got from @Andrew Salkin and it fills the room slowly with this rose butter sandalwoodiness and it last a good few hours.

Yes, a slight floral also, and caramel, and my imagination suggests a very minute dose of spice…nutmeg/cinnamon perhaps, and wood…both rustic and piney.

I think the magic formula for Mysore is old growth and properly stored through the years.

don't think so

I've not burned much lately - last was some Sri Lankan I bought from Faizal. This piece smells great, I remember another bit I'd burned wasn't so good, just couldn't get much of a smell from it.
Before that I was burning through some sinking Filipino also from Faizal but quite disappointing, had very little aroma to it. Maybe I was heating too thick of a piece - will need to revisit, but I remember the first time I burned this I wasn't impressed either

Perhaps it will perform better if shaved or ground into powder? I've noticed the denser woods benefit from this
