Tarakan wood is usually quite subtle, IME. I don't really like it. It's either super subtle, or super finicky about heat, or is just a lackluster aroma, but just my limited experience with it.
Tarakan, real OG Tarakan, is the kind that made me shed a tear out of joy and magnificence when I first smelled it back in the day.

I'd say, keep on exploring Tarakans. Hopefully you'll stumble upon the real deal 🙂

Pretty much this, Tarakan wood is special however like all Agarwood you need to find the right ones.
The unique milky aroma of Tarakan wood is mesmerizing.

Very interesting

Sasora named "Red Orange"
its red sandalwood with warm, tangy, citrusy and balsamic notes.
in general if you look into japanese kodo history schools view, you will find many famous sandals red or others under sasora of oie ryu school.
However the shino school use it as nose rest.
Where can I find kodo literature?? 😭
I can read some Japanese but I can't find anything anywhere! It can't ALL be oral tradition

This looks really awesome!!! Do you know why it is this colour, instead of a real black colour? I have noticed (and been told by language scent) that Koz has had some blonde coloured kyara before, so blonde it looked almost white, and he said it was one of his best/favourites, what is the reason for this? Is it the resin imploding into the wood and the oil coming out more, or what? Would love to know, and you know tons of stuff about Kynam.

Like man, just look at that red/orange colour and how oily it is:

@Mousse de Chene comparison of Dark Body round Leaf to Black CK both from Kangiiten. At this stage of the burn I'm sticking to liking the DBRL over the Black as a preference but it's very close. The DBRL (too me) seemed sweeter whereas the Black has heavy medicine vibes pouring from it with just the hint of vanilla in the background. I don't know what other word to use instead of medicinal to describe the matte scent and yet slightly sharp at the same time. Some people say minty but that doesn't sit with me. I'm pretty sure the vanilla will eventually come to the front as the burn progresses. Either way, I think I need to always have a bottle of both on my shelf. Thank goodness for the reference bundle.

I got some of that DBRL and share your opinion. Nice review.
