Looking a bit messy, but here are some little mini logs getting nicely toasted. I can scent my room for an hour or two. Gets very sweet and maple/vanilla at the stage you see here.
Now we have to do a study of maximum log size versus diminishing (aroma) returns:Roflmao::Roflmao::Roflmao:

Today, I couldn’t start with my usual morning burn, had to do early morning work overtime.
But while I was at work, I could almost smell Shunkohdo Ranjatai. The memory of it’s scent was calling me, therefore, when I got home, I had to light it up.

Those are small splinters. Kind of like fettuccine or linguine. 1.5 to 2” long. I do flip them every once in a while. They release their scent in a more interesting way than powders or shavings. I wish the scent lingered longer. Maybe I am becoming desensitized.

Baieido Kun Sho (rising scent)
made with Cambodian agarwood,
I pick up a slight floral, and very tiny bit of the Cambodian agarwood profile. I like the overall blend. Definitely a solid member of the team.

and some........
Imperial Oud Walla Patta incense sticks.
It certainly puts Walla Patta scents into the air.

Share more on the Walla Patta sticks... I think after using Dr Incense my expectation with Oud content in a stick has gone way over the top [emoji1787][emoji23]

[Ouddict.com] Burn of the Day

Sandalwood lovers - are these spent, or do you incinerate your sandalwood all the way?

I’m heating them pretty hard, there are sweet vanilla type notes, maple, a little kind of bourbon effect from the charred wood. the oily sandalwood scent is pretty much long gone.

Now there’s a thought - bourbon aged in charred sandalwood or agarwood casks instead of hickory or oak or whatever they use.

The Walla Patta sticks were made from a mixed lot of sinking and non-sinking incense grades. You will notice it at times during the burn. It’s a notch or two under the richness of the Dr.’s sinking Tarakan, and par with the level of the Assam sticks.

As for the agarwood content......no....these Walla sticks are not way over the top, but certainly over most Japanese incense. The mix is just Walla and binder, so the profile is certainly of the agarwood genre,,,Walla Patta to be specific. Where else can you find Walla Patta incense at the moment?? Not easy to find. The pricing........you get 10 grams for $70. Compared to a 5 gram tube, that’s $35, compared to a 3 gram tube (which is the weight that the new KZ square tubes will hold) that’s $21/3 grams. Bottom line, compared to a Japanese stick of comparable quality, a definite bargain.

Burning a nice pile of frankincense on the new wider subitism style element (I now am using quarry tile to hold the element and dissipate heat). I especially like this large surface for frankincense, which smells especially good when a nice sized pile with lots of heated surface area is gently simmering.

Kyukyodo Haru No Yama

A lot going on in this stick, quite possibly too much. For this level, I would expect to smell more of the agarwood. Definitely another specimen to study over and over again.

Had to do another burn today
Shoyeido Ga-Ho
Simply wonderful!
It may be the fourth from the top of the Shoyeido premiums but is certainly no less amazing.

[Ouddict.com] Burn of the Day
I just got home from a trip . After being limited on wood types( only brought a few)
I immediately had to bring out the green Kinam and start heating. This fresh cultivated green Kinam smells amazing and releases for such a long time with only a tiny sliver on the heater. It’s cost is low , the value is high as tiny pieces last so long.

Gyokushodo Kaze no Sho and Kumo no Sho

The agarwood comes through nicely, and for the first time I picked up a little frankincense in the Kaze no Sho, not very common to detect frankincense.

Tried two of my own creations:
Red frank, white old ambergris, mandarin peel used to age puer tea meets touch of Tonga and Mysore sandalwood, ash, charcoal, tiny bit makko and Ensar’s papuya wood. The result is fantastic. Room for improvement but if I may say so myself, only a tiny tweak.

The other one is centered around all things purple and png. Ceram sink, bois iris, port moresbey privee, papuya 02 and irian noir came together to sing a loud song of lilacs, orris butter and even touch of violet candy. I don’t really smell the irian noir wood (2% by volume) but interestingly 1% volume of port m privee is sticking out big time!!! Bois iris at 30% adds nice spice note while the dominant ingredient (ceram) remains center stage the entire time. Oooh how I wish I had enough to share a stick with everyone here. Beginners luck is on my side 🙂

Sri Lankna oud by IO, no idea what actual one as that's all I've wrote on the baggie label! d'oh! I think it may have been some wild chips that they were offering a while back, it's not the Kukawari style cut pieces

also burning 'Evening Zen' by Shoyeido. Down to a few of these as well as 'Morning Zen', it's nice to see my incense collection diminish. I've finished a ton of Indian ones lately too but then realised I have a load sitting on the floor out of sight. Not sure if I'll get around to burning them. Seem too perfumey and lacking in quality.

Have tons of Tibetan ones too but they seem quite heavy, am tempted to move to Japanese higher end ones, but slowly work up the ranges of Baiedo. I can't get too many here and would have to pay a ton of import tax to get from America, oh, woe 🙁
