Some from habzoud and some from IO
My fear of running out has been resolved!!

The Fear of Running Out keeps me from enjoying many of the woods i have!
I’m curious, how was it resolved in this case?

Starting the day with IO’s 70’s Mysore...benchmark for what good sandalwood should smell like...

How are those distillates coming along Edward?

Have you tried super hoi an? I can’t remember. This one has to be applied in tiny tiny dabs but I think captures the Vietnam oud note nicely. Bigger swipes are more complex and presents something more multifaceted but the tiny dabs - I feel like I am catching little whiffs of heated Vietnamese wood all day.

I agree though - the Vietnamese oud profile as I understand it is my favorite by far. In my experience it best manages to present all the mystery of oud without any off putting scent notes.

I have saved up a bit over 200 grams of mid grade Vietnamese wood from different batches. Some. Cultivated some Wild. Lots of little pieces. I plan on doing a no soak vacuum distillation in a glass setup. Super low temp using clean spring water from my farm
Just want to see what is what with the wood
I have that I’ll never get around to heating

Ahhh that’s wonderful. Here’s how I get the best wafts from my super hoi an: Fraction or a drop between my fingers rubbed into my beard (for me as far from my nose as possible so I don’t get desensitized). Just a tiny dab where my beard ends on my neck. I get the best smells all day. Applied in the evening, I wake up smelling fantastic the next morning. I love this stuff (but it has some funk and must be applied sparingly). This is the way I enjoy Thai oils as well

I don’t recall sproaty. It was some local Oregon brand.

Weekend Session:
Assam Agarwood
Mysore Sandal: Granules, powder, small chunks (the beads broken during carving them)
Vietnamese Incense Stick
Kneaded Incense: Ceylon sandal, Thai Oud powder, clove, cardamom, frankincense (nominal quantity)

That looks delicious

At last......
another session.....
Up for burn are
Habz Hindi and Sri Lanka
plus some Vietnamese from
OudwoodVietnam (the sinking stuff)

The Hindi offers slight differences in profile depending on the piece.
The overall experience with those chips are very nice.....ranging from good to excellent.

The Sri Lanka is very nice also, above average performance but won’t take high heat for too long before it fizzles out. Well worth it though, I’m wondering if I should get more🙄

The Vietnamese chip puts a smile on my face, nice profile, but the chips are said to be from old dead trees, so I wonder if the exposure to the elements diminished their original potential, it sure seems like it, I bet if they were harvested from a live tree, then dried and stored properly, they would blow my mind!😱

At home for the weekend
Mid-grade Vietnamese “ kien Rand A “so nice and really does release a wonderful scent and lasts a long time. This is my every day all day choice . I burn it around the house to fumigate my living space on a regular basis and it leaves the most sublime smell all over my home that last for days. Did I mention that it is very affordable!!!

50 grams of finely chopped up fully resined palo santo , I put this on a flat plate heater and gently heat and let it fill the whole house , it vaporizes the oils out of the wood and is my very favorite way of enjoying palo santo . Soon ill be making a attar with palo santo oil I distill myself from equador my favorite palo santo , talif rose , the freshest dirtiest blackest , fecaliest ambergris . To change the raw ambergris I soaked it in vanilla beans and now its a raw royal barn , sweetened but still very anamalic in its nature . Think ill call it Dirty rose
