Today I got into my package of Filipino wood from ALHashimi
No secret I love my Filipino wood and this batch is no exception!
Deep scent , well cleaned and sorted
Absolutely can not wait for the oil that will come from this amazing wood.

It just bubbles into one pile of resin!! Amazing

Filipino from AlHashimi
Amazing wood , amazing price
I have a hard time when people want to bring in 15-25k on a kilo of wood , I just can’t support that when I buy so much amazing wood at 2-12$ per gram, I bought some expensive wood and found it to be just that , expensive but no better scent or burn time or quality of scent just a lot more money.
Thanks ALHashimi for providing this amazing wood at a fair price when others would probably charge a bit more.

Whew!!!

Just got through a grueling session.
I went through 30 grams of wood, chip by chip.
I got some Filipino wood from a private stash and found some undesirable pieces, so I heated a sliver from each chip.
In the end 8 grams were not good.
But the pieces that were good, were great.

Now I’m blissed out, whacked out, zoning, and buzzing😕

Burning Puresacra hojari on this new heating element I stitched up this afternoon. I need to tighten / straighten the coils a bit... I’m no artisan, but dang I am cooking with fire on this style coil (attempt to copy kyarazen obviously). I feel this arrangement really focuses the heat nicely. The mica is relatively thin - thinking more heat from the bottom stitches will come through for more even heating. I feel I should have used a thicker sheet for durability. Well, this is my prototype for the kyarazen-style element. Mark 2 will be improved.

no soldering! I just leave long leads at the end of the heating element and wrap them around the posts a few times. Can be quickly swapped out with other elements.

note that you need a pretty decent power supply to get this one really glowing. 18 volts it really shines, draws 1.6 Amps or so. My wall-wart style power supply with the little plastic voltage select knob can not exceed 12 volts so it never gets like a coal with that one. I’d have to shorten things up a bit.

This is five seconds before I overburned the heck out of this sandalwood slice. 😡

Small loss as I had been heating it gently all day.

anyway, I am showing this as it gives a sense of the heat it kicks off.

And the resulting sandalwood ember / coal. Ugh... really rank harsh smoke

After this mornings session, I was smelling Filipino chips aroma everywhere I went, it was stuck in my mind, so even though I heated a lot, I had to do another session.
What a day!!!

Sinking Hindi I got as a gift from Habz.
Wow ! Every time I heat a sliver of this wood I fall in love, such a beautiful scent so piercing and lingering . I really do have to restrain myself, only a tiny sliver at a time once a month or so.

Baieido sandalwood granules I bought back in 2001. Kept in a little airtight glass jar, smell just like new to me. As you all probably know storage it entirely critical with sandalwood. Very sensitive to being left out or stored in plastic or wood. Must be glass or possibly well sealed metal containers like tea tins.

update: Also burned imperial oud wild sumbawa on the subitism at high heat. What a nice oud. When I walked back into the room I fumigated I smelled spicy pepper notes, a kind of fresh airy quality, the classic “scintillating wood” buzz and a very clean profile top to bottom. Really nice stuff, has me looking askance at my dwindling chip stash and wishing I had more stuff like this.

oh, hmm I've kept all my sandalwood in the plastic baggiest that vendors use (and my oud, too)
And yea your heater seems to really kick out the heat, in the first picture it looks like the mica plate in its entirety is glowing
