I got that back in 1998 so my memory is fuzzy on the price. It was a bargain, I doubt I paid more than a dollar or 1.50 a gram. That bigger chunk is about 21 g. At the time I didn’t know much about agarwood so I broke it down for a number of reasons. I have a bunch of other chunks - all in the 10 - 20g range but slightly less resinated wood (still sinking or half sinking though). I’m not sure if it’s great oud or not - it has some barny elements I could do without - but it is at least acceptable in terms of aroma and very nice in terms of resin density.

I had to go high heat, and it is a little mesmerizing.
I get the fig and tobacco a little, but also something herbal. Not much resin in the chips.

Nice buttery Mysore scent.

Wild Hainan chips to end the day !!!!!!
Really thankful for my access to these amazing
pieces of wood and grateful for every chip I heat. Grade is high not sure exactly but just thankful to receive these excellent quality woods from someone I consider a friend.
