It is widely believed that incense was brought to Japan over 1400 years ago, along with the conveyance of Buddhism.www.sazentea.com
this is 2017 patch i got from friend, i might try to get more samples of it.I smelled some of that back in 2001 or so… very nice kyara scent. That’s pretty much the pinnacle of the incense that I’ve experienced.

He had advertised some oil on his IG. I forgot if it was an atter or a pure oud oil. He usually only spoils woods or oils. Rarely does he spoil incense sticks.Dr. Incense Nirvana:
Immediately when I opened the tube I was instantly reminded of Yamadamatsu Gancho Koh.
I forgot I even had that in the cabinet! The power of scent memory.
It's that tobacco-like/fenugreek/reiryo koh/clove/patchouli blend that the Yamadamatsu stick is so famous for.
I found out the similarity ends with the Nirvana stick being unlit.
While Gancho Koh's accord is more linear, sweeter and perfumed, with just a minute portion of agarwood showing itself, Doc's incense is a dense presentation of ambergris, agarwood, a dash of camphorous borneol, with the spice profile staying considerably quiet during the burn. I was puzzled as to where it went.
Both incenses are perfect for a dark library, smoking lounge, gentleman's quarters etc, but the generous ambergris in Nirvana gives this a more luxurious feel, and engages the listener for a much deeper experience. The clean uplift that ambergris brings to the table is very welcomed in this mix.
I'd use the Gancho Koh for scenting a room, but there's not much depth to it. After doing a side-by-side burn, I feel apathy towards the Yamadamatsu stick.
I seem to have rambled on about the Gancho Koh.
Oh well.
Nirvana is double the price, but you get double the goods.
A very bold incense with powerful lingering ability.
Quality ingredients, friends.
Looking forward to seeing what's on the menu this Saturday for the store re-stock.
Anyone have any spoilers?
