Tennendo Enkuu Green Kyara again,
I am liking it a little more than the last time.
It can’t compare to Enju for a kyara stick,
but it does offer a decent kyara note,
although not strong, it’s like a lace worn over a Vietnamese agarwood stick. The agarwood is not as fine as in Shoyeido’s Myokaku.

[Ouddict.com] Incense of the Day

When burning this I didn't even know it was a blend of aloeswood and sandalwood, I just thought it was an aloeswood mini stick, since the main notes I got out of it were aloeswood. I haven't listened to these sticks much and have had them for a couple of months now. I will try and give my best impression on the notes by just listing them, as when I looked on LotusZenIncense and saw that it had Sandalwood, I took myself back and couldn't really find any sandalwood notes in the experience, but then I realised, YES... it had some creaminess and sensual butteriness, but that was as much as I could perceive.

Notes: Resinous aloeswood note, with a nice woody note to it. Florals instantly came on, and it was amazing, now looking back (refer to top of the post) I did detect notes of creamy, butteriness and a sensual relaxing note, kinda like a lactonic note mixed with the florals, but in a very mild, mature manner, this is still an aloeswood heavy stick, as the stick further burns, you suddenly get notes of a very green damp, petrichor forest, then musk later on, with some caramel notes in there from the start, which is probably the rich, fine, sandalwood mixed with the very fine aloeswood. Notes of candy as well.

I need to work on these sticks like I did with the Horin Peaceful Sky (new and old stock, when I was doing that, my nose was actually getting so refined just by doing that, hope that happens with this Monkoh stick journey), and become more acquainted with them as I have only burned 3 or something since i got them months ago. I still have a few old stock Peaceful Sky that I got 20 of like way back at the (near) start of the year.

Appreciate the detail you went into here Renton!! This one is very seldom talked about and I've been on the fence about it for ages, but it sounds quite tempting given your description.

Have you had a chance to try their Super Green Kynam sticks, from the same line, or their Agar Clouds pressed incense ? And if so, what were your general thoughts on them ?
I have bought and tried the following incenses from Kangiiten so far.
1 - prof incense soil Ambon
2 - kisen agar wood incense
3 - green kynam incense sticks (green box no longer on sale)
4 - mysore incense stick (blue box)
5- blue lotus
6- agar clouds
7 - kynam cloud
8 - santal cloud

If I were to compare the agarwood ones to each other (1,2,6) my favorite is 2. The agar cloud and soil Ambon have more of the burnt wood smell you get as you would from directly burning wood chips. The prof incense packaging is very nice, the metal tube comes with a screwed in incense holder cap. Unfortunately I can’t compare these to the daily series since I have yet to try them.

Both kynam sticks and pressed incense are my favorite, you can never go wrong with these. Kangiiten has really perfected their technique and ratio/processing of their ingredients for the clouds series.

Blue lotus is very unique, when I first lit it, I had mixed feelings since I was expecting something different. It has a unique spiciness to it. I did end up ordering 5 more with my last order if that means anything 🙂 it is uplifting and mystical, I can’t got a few days without it.

The santal clouds and mysore sticks have gone well beyond my expectations, you don’t get any of the harshness from burnt wood like you do when burning sandal wood chips. The mysore sticks especially are my go to before bedtime, it has a pleasant salty creaminess.
I’ll be happy to send you any of them to try in case you are not sure about blind buying

@Bay Oud Thank you so much for the brilliant, comparative review, reviews like these aren't at all easy to do, and I appreciate you taking the time, and also your generosity for offering to share from your precious collection!

I have 1, 2, and 4 from your list. I actually haven't tried out the mysore incense sticks (blue box) yet but I did have a wonderful experience with the Prof. Incense Mysore Sticks. They smell very clean to my nose, and almost like an incense form of @mesOUD 's NTT Batch 2 oil, which for me is a wonderful coincidence! I've also had a very positive experience with the Ultrafine Premium Australian Sandalwood Joss Sticks, they're super long, a bit lighter than the earlier mentioned sandalwood sticks, but I can use a single stick for three, very decent sessions, coupled with there being 200, 20 cm sticks per tube, I'm quite pleased with their quality to cost trade off!

I have yet to try the Prof. Incense Soil Ambon sticks, was waiting to finish my first tube of the Prof. Incense Fusen Red Soil sticks which are honestly my favorite non KyaraZen sticks. The Kisen sticks I kinda forgot about, something about the marketing copy wasn't super exciting, but I still picked up some.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to shed more light on these sticks soon. I won't be looking for any other sticks for a little while, because with the last sale I exhausted my incense budget on the KyaraZen sticks and coils 😅

@Ahmaoud thank you for the feedback and contribution. I admire your patience, I have to try a new product as soon as possible 😅

I am curious to know how you like the Kisen and how the fusen red soil compares to the ambon soil. My order with the new releases should be arriving this week, inside are also the Joss sticks. KyaraZen wrote that he was able to make the core sticks practically scentless, it seems to be a great value. Sandalwood oil and incense has become my go to before sleeping and this will be a good alternative to burning the premium incense sticks or preparing sandal wood chips for the subitism.

Tried the Kisen, my immediate opinion of them isn't very positive, I can totally see what you meant, perhaps with more time I'll get used to it, but the smoke-y scent is pronounced in them.

The joss sticks, a portion of which I also burned this morning, are way softer in any burnt wood notes, borderline difficult to detect unless being looked for. I feel KyaraZen orchestrated the slight smoky note from the ultra fine bamboo core to coincide with the slight smoke-y nuance within Australian Sandalwood. Though I will say, the quality of the Australian Sandalwood used here is quite high, I'd not be surprised if scrapping off the sandalwood and heating itself wouldn't be enjoyable, since even the unburnt stick is quite fragrant! I hope you enjoy these when you get them, and that they aid you in your sleep!

Yamadamatsu Blue Lotus · Shoren Karaku - Unbearable scent while burning. I know this is a very economical offering, maybe I should give it more chances, but it's truly a scent that I can't understand. It's not even musky or animalic or complex, just smells like strange acrid green burning 😕 Feels incredibly amateur, burning maple leaves in one's backyard, somehow smells better to me ...

Have also got all of these. I couldn't handle the Blue Lotus and actually gave them away. They reminded me of stale perfume and cigarettes from a night out clubbing. The Kinsen are ok...not my go to but they do improve. Am also very impressed with the blue tube Mysore. Perfect before bed I agree.

KyaraZen - Ultrafine Premium Australian Sandalwood Joss Sticks - pretentiously long name, but oh boy does it ever hit spot! For sandalwood oil I've been content with NTT and Silani specimens and it seems for incense, Australian's the way to go!! Now my mind drifts off to sourcing some powder and using a cone stencil for loose powder sessions. A thoroughly good burn and beautiful atmosphere created, and for an impeccable price!

Ask and you shall receive brother. I have the 700g bag of this powder which will last me an incredibly long time. Also have the sawdust. It's sandalwood heaven https://newmountain.com.au/collections/sandalwood

I also think Australian Sandalwood gets less attention than it deserves. I don't think of it as a replacement for regular sandalwood. Just as a separate material that can work really well in all kinds of different fragrances or just as a woody perfume. I feel like it could be a good oil to macerate musk in, but alas i have no musk to macerate. I have thoughts on the different types of Australian Sandalwood oil but this is the thread for it

Already had the link open 😂 I was contemplating getting a stencil, similar to what you shared but then I thought, I'd need some white ash, so why not use a cone stencil I had laying around 💡

I recall them having a wider selections of incense sticks in the past, these super fat ones which I could never understand how possibly they'd stand up, but perhaps they shifted some products. Though in the meanwhile I have this tube of some 200 joss sticks to finish off first and other sandalwood sticks to work through 😅 But it's really wonderful not being afraid of Australian Sandalwood powder anymore, I think I might actually prefer it to Mysore!

I agree. It's a thing unto itself. I can burn it with complete abandon here as I'll never get through my giant bag of it otherwise lol..but it really does scent a room well without becoming too much. I'll often also incude it as a base material in my loose incense blends. Also with the semi spent CK that I keep, once I get around 10g of that I grind it up with AU sandalwood and make incense out of those two together. Really is amazing and we're lucky to have an ample supply of it so it's very cheap to purchase. I actually do have half a gram of Siberian musk here which I haven't decided what to do with yet. You reckon I should give the Aussie sandalwood oil a go?
