Some dank yamada matsu costus root I’ve had for about 20 years... Strange smelling though it is, it is a prominent note in quite a few Japanese incense sticks I’ve smelled

If anyone around here does end up with such a sliver it will almost certainly be you!

Dr. Incense Hong Kong

My technique for “getting to know” the aloeswood within a stick, is by listening closely to the first aroma upon lighting the stick, and followed up by the aroma during that last second right after extinguishing the stick.

With this Hong Kong stick, those tell tale aromas smell like IO’s Super Hoi An oud.

Strange smelling? What does it smell like?

Costus is strange stuff. It smells resinous and rooty, but it also smells a lot like unwashed hair or something (like all costus does to me). It’s a strange smell half pleasant and half unclean smelling. Kind of musky.

Shoyeido Go-Un (five clouds)

It sure does smell heavenly.

followed bu a couple Walla Patta sticks

One from IO, the other made by Rasoul...which
also contains a little Filipino wood.

.....all good stuff!

maybe my nose doesn't like smokes as my brain does. my sense of smell got weaker after a continuous burning session.
I need stop burning for a while... (if I can resist the temptation)

Yamadamatsu Oju for goodbye.

Hi,
I am new to this, sorry for my ignorance.
I love the smell of incense and oud.
I want to make my own incense perfume, but ...
What type of essential oil is suitable for a perfume incense? Where could I buy it in Europe?
Thank you! 😉

Dr Incense Processed Sinking Malinau

This stick is the most difficult to keep lit. But one of the best from the Doc.

The profile of Malinau wood is captured beautifully.
