How’s rhe Tongan 1999? Could you give a (short) description?
It has a deeper vanilla type note from the bottle......There is a very nice buttery scent which reminds me of Kerry Gold butter that is produced over here....When I applied onto my beard...I could still get the scent perhaps four hours or so later with a lighter touch of soft cream...I think...
I have used the half Tola I got for maceration almost immediately....as the other Sandalwood I had ordered, had not yet arrived...
But I shall most likely purchase more from brother Hamza when he has some again....i think he may presently be sold out of it...

0.7 g Kashmiri Musk
0.5 g Tibetan Musk
0.5 g Grey Ambergris
8 gram Mysore Sandal (Acquired from a reliable source and twice tested from the lab- GCMS Tested)

Now when sniffed, sandal smells nowhere.

Rai bhai can you please clarify why you have used this 2:1 musk ambergris ratio? What is the desired outcome for this ratio? Does the ambergris make it too animalic if added 1:1 ratio? I know you have much insight so your reasoning for this ratio would be highly appreciated.

Dear Ahmad, actually the ratio I mentioned lead to ideal end fragrance. Once I used more ambergris and the scent profile was more ambergrisy animalic and less musky. Last, I use a little ambergris in each maceration nowadays as it really complements musk fragrance and enhances the energy vibes as well.

I have a question. I am planning on macerating IO’s vintage sandalwood oil with musk grains at about 25-30%. I am also considering adding some rose oil, maybe taif rose. What do you guys think? Would this be a good addition? Or should I add something else to give it a more complex scent as apposed to only sandalwood and musk? And what ratio would you recommend ?

From experience (recently) I can say, if you are adding....add very very very little rose to your maceration...Three months into my experiment of Dimashq oil and Sandalwood oil with Siberian musk in a 6ml bottle...is still very heavy floral scented, with a very very lite scent presence of musk...
The mix was perhaps in the ration of 5ml Sandalwood, 1ml Dimashq and about .6gms of Musk. I also made a maceration in Jasmine oil which is still about 3 months old but very strong on the floral...thus far....

Thanks for the info brother! Will take that into account

Just started this maceration 48 hours ago: I have 2 grams of @RisingPhoenix Tibetan Musk in in 6ml of FCO. The FCO is completely odorless, which is exactly what I was looking for. The oil is already smelling quite strong.

2 related questions:

1) Does anyone know the weight of 1ml of FCO? Was hoping to calculate the approximate maceration percentage by weight.

2) Where can I purchase a leak-proof 10ml bottle? I have scoured the internet, and the only option is to buy in bulk, to the tune of 100 bottles. Please - if anyone has any leads on a leak-proof, clear glass 10ml bottle, please let me know. The one in the picture leaks, and I need to transfer this maceration to another bottle.

Why use FCO ? Wouldn't natural oils be a better option?

For now you could wrap some white plumbers mate tape around the the thread of the bottle and then screw the cap on. Should stop any leaking when shaking...

Thanks for the tip

Because FCO is best for that I am personally wanting to achieve with this maceration. It is completely odorless and stable - it has a much longer shelf life than other carrier oils. And it is certified organic. No chemical solvents used for the extraction process.

I would assume 1ml is equal to 1g which would give you a 25% musk maceration? Overall it should give you a really strong musk maceration. I would expect 6months onwards it would start to bring out its aroma. I’ve never used FCO though.

Thank you @DubOudh I will check with the seller if he/she has tola-sized bottles as 3ml won't do

Well, that's what I did not want to assume, but it's along the lines of what I was thinking. If this is the consensus educated guess, then I'll accept it.

Yes, FCO is rather unusual. But I wanted to capture the unadulterated scent of these specific grains and render it a wearable scent. So far, I'm thrilled with the progress.

If you are gonna do this on a regular basis, may be invest $25 or $30 on a digital scale. that would solve your problem.

If you contact the owner....he may have tola sizes on his web site...but he is very helpful...if you contact him...
