Few months ago I got a sample of Turath from a friend of mine. By the time I fell in love with it it was already sold out. I greatly regretted it.
So I contacted
@Al Shareef Oudh to check whether he had any tiny bit left. You know the answer.... "NO". Thats when he recommended Turath II (before the official launch). I asked him is it in the same league as Turath and Saqr II? He answered "without a doubt in the same league". I disagree because I love it more
🙂
Do you know what happens when an ametuer reviews a complex attar? Keep reading....
Instead of describing notes, I will mention the dominating ingredients to my nose. From the most dominating to the most subtle, they are: Oud (Malaysian... to my nose its almost like Al Shareef II) > Musk > Ambergris > Myrrh > Saffron > Sandalwood > Frankincense > Rose (as per ASO... Rare Bulgarian white rose, Taifi rose etc.) > Spices (Cinnamon being the strongest). The rose is there to tie everything together, it doesnt dominate AT ALL. The opening is amaaaaaaaaaaaazing! The more it sits on the skin the oud and musk take center stage (with subtle presence of myrrh+frankincense).
Now the ametuer part.... When the smell of this beautiful attar enter through my nostrils and my brain processes the smell, its like a "beam" of beautiful integration of all these ingredients perfectly married together. There is not a single note that I wish wasnt there. The finish is round. There is no sharp edges to that "beam". Its so satisfying to breath it in. There are some attars that has sharper edges to this "beam" which are momentarily nice to smell but long term exposure is not pleasing to me. [95% of you must be thinking what the hell is this guy talking about]
I'm just glad ASO didnt have any Turath (I) left; otherwise, I wouldnt have purchased a full bottle of this beauty. Thank you
@Al Shareef Oudh !
