Shoyeido Matsu Grade Cut Shape
Opens like Walla Patta, but I still can’t be certain if it’s Sri Lankan. It’s just one of 6 distinct profiles I get from these Shoyeido pieces. None of them smell like Vietnamese oudh, so I’m wondering, what are they doing with all their Vietnamese stock. I was told that the Shoyeido stores in Japan sell a variety of woods. Has anyone here on Ouddict been to one of their stores?

even ther gokuhin grade i got from japan isn't viet, its 100% borneo island brunei/tarakan at least what i have from them, amazingly aromatic at room temp, regarding walla like profile some here sell malinau they claim its similar to walla notes ;3
there is issue with some japanese grading and i even saw some chinese do it, if certain wood have certain aroma lets say viets they will consider it viet even if its thai or cambodian.
if you want Vietnamese from them or another company look for Rakoku, many top notch viet wood fall under it.
Some sinking fili from @YusaAromatics i got a while back I savor, this piece smells like chocolate chip cookies coming out of the oven.

Levels up any other kind with deep almost chocolate santal scent that performs exceptionally well on the heater without the burnt wood smell but long last deep depth of a dark nature that is addictive!!
Going in the pot for distillation soon 😎

Sinking Fili from my friends at @YusaAromatics i got a while back. The piece I shaved from like a dark nugget, the scent at 10-11v heavenly floral and dark tea invisibly fill my office.
