Mainly been burning lapnisan today, its a live cut so needs quite a gentle heat to start with but develops into the most intense lemon/citrus smell as the heat is increased. As the smell develops (its not a fast burn) it has a very floral note... Im beginning to like it. Its not as heavy as lanete but a very very relaxing scent.

ASO Papua New Guinea

It’s smells almost floral, and has a touch of sweet, but is more of a rounded scent which is unique to pieces like this which seem to be buried for a long time. It’s another way to scent my room with oudh resin while being different from when I use Borneo or Vietnamese.

Fathers day here today, spending the day going through the different sent profiles of some of my bits.f
First burn is some old live cut Lanete, we will see what the locals think to the different scents, surprising most here have never smelt agarwood.

This was one of my first finds on the site, the tree is very much still alive and I removed a couple of side branches and spent a pleasant afternoon removing the agrwood from the branches.

This particular wood smells a lot more earthy than dead cut wood. It has a undertone of flowers and fruit. One of my guests has commented this is the smell that reminds her of her time working in the UAE, notabley when her best friend got married. My wife is describing it as the smell of forest on cool evening, as you walk among wild flowers and fruit trees.

Next wood im going for a completely different smell, this particular tree was high up in a natural valley. Mainly in the shade in a realativlely sheltered part of the land. My father in law members the exact date this tree was damage, The site was hit by the tail end of Yunya in June 1991. It split the bow of the tree with a part of the tree that fell taking out the power lines to the village. I would imagine that is when the tree got infected with the part that was left in the ground growing until we think about 2019-2020 until it died and was felled by the utility company and left on site. The remains of the tree are very hard to access but i plan on going with a chain saw and trying to get it down the mountain. These are a few of the bits that i removed with a pocket multi tool from the main bow of the tree.

Being "botang" or dead wood it will have a much more complex smell than a live cut tree. This is the first time burning tho particular sample, i have it on some locally produced "olang" a charcoal made from cocoa tree wood.

I don't think its quite sinking grade but as the tree has grown very slowly the wood is very very dense and close grained. If it smells as good as it looks I will try and retrive the rest of the tree next weekend.

Here is a mixture of patchouli, Korean juniper, oud, frank, sanna, kaiko, deodar cedar, tabu, and costus. The Keiko and costus gives it a certain hard mineral scent that reminds me of Baieido Kai un koh. I actually feel like I can create decent sticks in that category of fragrance.

Still having a little trouble with powder getting hung up on the burrs on the stencil so the trails come out a bit ragged.
