Some Maroke and hindi oud to fumigate the room
After a bunch of oil-free woods, I put this hindi piece which was full of oil. Watching it bubble calmed me down 😴

Today’s melt…..I like that 😄

My melt today…..RPP Tura Peak Saif.

Initial thoughts, pollen flavored cotton candy and fresh baked pastry, then some agarwoodiness with a little more heat.

I am looking forward to more sessions so I can share more impressions, but suffice to say, I got more on the way😊

Thanks JK

I've never had a cotton candy note in burning oud before.
that must be delicious 😋

RPP Tura Peak Saif

Room fumigation test.

Initially, the very familiar honeyed floral pollen is apparent, then it quickly goes into a phase which begs more exploration, so many descriptives possible, then, with more heat, but not too hot, it can keep going and fills my room quite nicely with Hindi oudh aroma.

Fumigation success😊

Old Stock Mysore 1 chip that still has life in it after 60 mins, so will use that one again when I am out of the other fresh ones from this stock. The sandalwood is from the Tea Guru.

Super, super fragrant at room temp and in the bag, same with the 5grams of Vintage Java Batch 6, which smells HEAVENLY even in room temp, soo strong, stronger than the Mysore, I want to leave at least 1 chip for just smelling until one day it stops smelling at room temp its that good.

Anyway, I am still getting used to burning Sandalwood on coal, I ignited the coal with a torch and waited around 18-20 mins, I think I will wait 28 mins 45 seconds next time (timed) then only use 2 fresh mica plates (he also gave me tons of extra micas, thank God sandalwood doesnt cause a mess on mica sheets and can be reused alot with sandalwood and the others for agarwood). Sandalwood is the most delicate (but strong timber wood lol) fragrant wood when it comes to temps I have ever heated, even though I waited 18-20 mins I still needed 3, fresh strong micas so it wouldnt just smell like bad sandalwood, wood. So I wasted a chip kind of (and sadly it was larger one) so I put another 2 micas on the coal and put a smaller piece on and the scent was incredible, again (I have said this before about sandalwood oils) I didn't know how complex sandalwood can get note wise... the notes I was getting were, very, very creamy, butter and a nice dry, and sweet sandalwood note, givnig me notes of citrus fruits, fruity and floral (sometimes at the same time), with a note that smelled an awful lot of frankincense, it was great. I am back in love with raw sandalwood, and I think the Vintage Java batch 6 will be even more amazing.

This is the Java Vintage Batch 6 :

Trying a nice chunk of the Brunei K this morning. Warmed it up a little and got the crisp apple scent then i bumped the temp to 290 and now getting strong oud smell. Almost that diesel scent but not quite. I think it prefers the higher heat. While I was getting used to Brunei K I found that smell kind of empty but now I have my nose in with it I'm getting much more. Funny how without a frame of reference your sense of smell can almost dissapear completely as far as the wood is concerned. In saying that, I don't love this wood all that much.

mysore stamp chunklette with two drops of home made Australian sandalwood absolute. its like a buttery caramel bomb went off in my house 🧡
I need to get round to trying the oil from that wood!!! I think I might actually get a separate blue capped bottles (online) and put 0.5ml of it in that and 0.5ml of Sulaym's Thai Khiao using a disposable pipette to get the oils out, or if anyone can give me a better way of doing it please give some advice? Or maybe 0.25ml of the oud and 0.5ml of the sandalwood?

Saturday morning 6:30am - half a stick of RPP’s LaoShan Monkoh 2014 to wake up to while drinking coffee. It’s hard to imagine Sandalwood incense gets better than this. Obviously the Chinese artisan JK acquired these from used a particularly high grade of Mysore. Buttery, softly spicy, crème brûlée vanilla. What stands out is the white floral notes, I only sense these in the best examples of Sandalwood Album eg Shoyeido’s Byakudan Squares etc.

After enjoying the lingering aroma of the Sandalwood, I set up the sub & proceeded to heat a good amount of ASO’s - Ramadan Cambodi. A very lovely wood, great for daily use considering the price. After several hours on low heat, the aroma that builds in the air is glorious! A dessert like vanilla-cherry-marzipan, suede & dark Oud resin….a beautiful aroma.

I’ve also just applied a drop of old vintage Chanel No 5 extrait, I own various bottles but this is the oldest one, I’m guessing 1960s? An explosion of bubbly, sparkling soapy aldehydes, florals, oakmoss & fuzzy powdery nitro Musks. This bottle has been preserved well as the stopper/dipstick was completely jammed & had to be put in the fridge for 15 minutes to release the expansion that had occurred over time.

Aside from Oud, wood & attars I also collect vintage Chanel, Guerlain, Patou extraits plus various old fougeres. Classical French perfumery inspires me as it’s part of my cultural identity & holds a lot of nostalgia. The modern French era I can do without mind you!
