Looks a bit complicated. Cant you just use disposable pipettes of amazon? Like KZ used in his sandalwood extrait video on whatsapp?
Yes, of course. This is super easy though and very accurate with your mil. You want the 1000ul pipette ends. I use one regularly.

Allahoema baarik dear brother, i hope you enjoyed it.
I can imagine that the combination of two natural products from the same area will take the experience to a new level, it will certainly be a fantastic experience, especially in this holy month Ramadan.

May Allah make us grateful servants for the many favors He has bestowed upon us.

Alhamdulillah dear brother, today i received some woods from indonesia and indonsian brother sent me a very special Luwak coffe.Alhamdulillah enjoyed too much

SQ 90s Merauke Live Harvest wood from brother Faizal. 3 decent sized chips and 1 small one.

Notes of, green lush uplifting jungle scent, not real dark or bitter, quite sweet actually, oudy agarwood, oceanic sea notes, like ocean water hitting off rocks, some nice creamy notes with dark but sweet chocolate, red berries on one of the chips and some mintiness. Florals noticed too at the end if I pushed the chip.

Lovely.

Now not to touch it again for a while, too precious.

Tried some small slices of the big logs I recently acquired, and I'm afraid I don't have an adequate mental scent library to describe the profile. I only got a strong resin smell directly from the burn, with maybe a little sweetness and chinese incense. Was concerned it wasn't even agarwood for a second, didn't smell like any I've had before.

It really comes alive in the atmosphere though, same resinous incense notes but now with a sweetness, an oudy base note, and an almost tobacco feel to the whole thing. Definitely agarwood, crisis of faith averted. Still, I want to find out what type/formation/species it is, maybe you fine lot can help me!

Saturday morning 6:30am - half a stick of RPP’s LaoShan Monkoh 2014 to wake up to while drinking coffee. It’s hard to imagine Sandalwood incense gets better than this. Obviously the Chinese artisan JK acquired these from used a particularly high grade of Mysore. Buttery, softly spicy, crème brûlée vanilla. What stands out is the white floral notes, I only sense these in the best examples of Sandalwood Album eg Shoyeido’s Byakudan Squares etc.

After enjoying the lingering aroma of the Sandalwood, I set up the sub & proceeded to heat a good amount of ASO’s - Ramadan Cambodi. A very lovely wood, great for daily use considering the price. After several hours on low heat, the aroma that builds in the air is glorious! A dessert like vanilla-cherry-marzipan, suede & dark Oud resin….a beautiful aroma.

I’ve also just applied a drop of old vintage Chanel No 5 extrait, I own various bottles but this is the oldest one, I’m guessing 1960s? An explosion of bubbly, sparkling soapy aldehydes, florals, oakmoss & fuzzy powdery nitro Musks. This bottle has been preserved well as the stopper/dipstick was completely jammed & had to be put in the fridge for 15 minutes to release the expansion that had occurred over time.

Aside from Oud, wood & attars I also collect vintage Chanel, Guerlain, Patou extraits plus various old fougeres. Classical French perfumery inspires me as it’s part of my cultural identity & holds a lot of nostalgia. The modern French era I can do without mind you!

Oh Chanel 5 extrait, do you smell the switch from classical methods to modern methods in that fragrance? Perhaps a bridge

Jayapura powder from Kangiiten. Got my order this morning and looking forward for to exploring.

The powder has been going for hours on the sub and is quite nice. good quality wood to my nose.
Yeah nice. I've just looked them up on the store and this one has come down in price. Worth getting? Also what temp have you got it at?

As you’re probably well aware that golden era of classical French perfumery 1890s-1930s was characterised by abstraction, meaning perfumers were intentionally blurring the line between the natural world & the artificial. Before the development of all the synthetic aroma molecules, French perfumery was more concerned with realism. For example the colognes, presenting what Lemon-Bergamot-Neroli smells like or perfume waters that represented singular flowers like Rose or Lavender soliflores. In the previously mentioned time period, I believe the best & most creative French works emerged such as; L’Heure Bleue, Shalimar, Mitsuoko, Vol de Nuit, No 5, Cuir de Russie, Joy, Arpege etc.

Regarding the bridge from 100% natural traditional attars to the mixed media French perfumes, I believe No 5 is the most furthest removed. Although the Western tastes of today would consider this an archaic scent profile, I still view No 5 as futuristic; cold, shiny, bubbly, metallic, almost bleached white. Probably it’s the overdose of soapy sparkling aldehydes & fuzzy snow white synthetic musks.
The floral accord is composed in such an abstracted way, one can easily identify the integral floral component however no single floral note is more prominent than the other. It’s simply smells like bouquet of fresh, indolic, petal-like, buttery ‘flowers’. Even the mossy, white musk, vanilla dry down feels austere & somewhat hard to grasp onto like some of today’s modern works.

To my nose, perfumes such as Shalimar, Cuir de Russie or Mitsuoko more so bridge the gap between the traditional attars & the modern French works of the time.
In Shalimar & Cuir de Russie the heavy use of Labdanum, Incense, Civet, Leather recall a traditional Arabian aesthetic.
In Mitsuoko the big dose of Vetiver & Oakmoss, the realism of the Jasmine & Rose or the peach accord could have been inspired by a traditional Indian attar.

Brother it’s an interesting question you asked, I hadn’t previously considered the connection too deeply.

Bits from my travel bag of wild ant wood (Vietnam)
[Ouddict.com] Burn of the Day

Starts with mixed notes of jungle and green notes, beautiful transport to the rainforest. Sometimes an astringent off note like Bay leaf smoke, but only on certain pieces.
The smell then changes to a strong animalic profile with musk, leather, and more musk. Sweet too.

Sounds lovely. I really like those sweet musky profiles some woods exhibit
