Mousse de Chene
True Ouddict
Shoyeido - Byakudan Sandalwood Squares.
I cut these squares into thirds for my own personal use. Once it gets going on the sub at low temp, the initial aroma is a bright woody powdery note. As it progresses, delicate white florals emerge before the signature Santal base of cream, butter & crème brûlée vanilla.
Toward the end of the burn, I turn the heat up slightly & the aroma changes from off white to light beige. The spiciness is more pronounced, the vanilla turns caramelised, plus you can sense the grain of the wood if that makes sense? A superior grade of Mysore, probably the best example in my modest collection.
I’m only heating small amounts of woods today, I’m giving my nose a day off from oils or perfume.
