you just inspired me to put a little frankincense on the burner, thank you! This is from PureSacra, just their basic hojari. It arrived with a strong smell of cologne / attar fragrance which seemed to be due to where it was stored as opposed to actually having been splashed with cologne because the smell eventually faded. now it smells right and this has a very appealing tangy piney aroma on the subitism. I enjoy burning this resin and the price was very reasonable if i recall

Maunamoku Nha Trang Char

Smells a bit like perfume, which makes me think why Russian Adam didn’t include Vietnam in his History of Oud series.
What makes you think that? Just curious about your thoughts. Wasn't (at one point) Vietnam the most sought after agarwood country for A. crassna, alongside Cambodia?

EDIT: BTW, I don't know much about Russian Adam lol. I have only watched a few of his videos, but he is difficult to watch since he talks so ls slow (while elegantly) and that makes it harder for me to concentrate as I have severe ADHD, and I am even on 90mg overall of Ritalin a day 2 types of dosages 12 hour release.

Precisely! Vietnamese is very sought after, and a good Vietnamese oudh has a wonderful profile, so that’s why I wonder. The history of oud collection includes Chinese, Indian, Indonesian, Bengal, and Cambodian. So why not Vietnam? There is Kinam also in that collection, so maybe that represents Vietnam, but it’s a stretch.

Yeah. Strange why he never included Vietnam then. Even though Cambodi crassna is also very sought after, it is 2nd to Vietnam. Very strange.

Saturday morning, sunny blue skies, yet a little cold. It’s the middle of Autumn here in Melbourne & the greenery of summer is slowly dying with the leaves turning shades of purple, yellow & terracotta. The summer vegetables & herbs are gone, but the Camellia’s are beginning to bloom.

Sitting here over looking the yard, drinking coffee, eating Medjool dates while heating a small piece of Kali Luv from The Oud Lab. A beautiful wood I received as a generous sample from AT, I’ve been meaning to purchase at least 10g.
Warm spices, green, incense, dark Oud resin, musk, a ripe mature sweetness recalling floral honey, vanilla-tonka-leather in the tail end of the burn. I’d highly recommend this wood, I’m not so eloquent to describe its aroma in fine detail, yet it’s on another level compared to other Kalimantan woods I’ve smelt. I’m guessing this type of wood is the mythical Kalimantan profile that is so desired in the GCC, yet isn’t easily accessible like it used to be.

Pristine, often sparkling floral top notes of high grade wood on the sub is exciting & stimulating yet the bottom note, that resinous vanillic leathery incense that slowly builds over a several hour period is what keeps me coming back & holds a special place in my heart.

Merauke Hayy is particularly golden brown in nature. even at high heat it keeps a sweet profile without any bitterness. packed with dark resin. what a way to start the day!

Kangiitens "black meat" mysore sandalwood this morning. Never ceases to amaze with its complex headspinning opening. Getting ultimate creamy sandal with a little berries, and sweet so sweet! With that x factor I can't put my finger on. But oh the openings gone too soon! Guess that's my fault for going with medium heat, but I can't resist pushing out all that scent at once.

Anyone else notice the difference between their milled black meat sandalwood and the bead scrap? They sent me the scrap by accident and sorry to say but it's better 👀

Enjoying both of these from OUDDILICOUS berry much. But I'm too sleepy and Eucalyptus steamed and relaxed to articulate clearly. But here's a furry biofocal (where are my wind shield wipers?) stab ~ The Temburong reminds me of a purple custard apple. IYKYK. But not an apple. I don't know why they call it an apple.

Makes sense, I’d buy bead scrap over milled wood any day. I’m probably wrong, but I’d assume there to be some loss of the essential oil the more exposed the wood is to processing?
Kangiiten’s black meat is heavenly stuff, I love it on low-medium heat on the sub, beautiful.

awesome cultivated Hindi chunks! these are some really good looking pieces, and the smell is classic. packed with sticky brown resin!
