I highly recommend getting in touch with Hamza. On instagram or through his website. Some of my most beloved woods in my collection are from him, as well as oils. Just waiting on a Sandalwood that blew my socks off. Such a fair price too.

What is his instagram?

SQ Merauke gifted to me by brother Faizal. 30-35 min session.

NOTES I got this session: Woody, oudy, sweet, earthy, with jungle tones, some sweet dark and milk chocolate notes, creamy, milky, dry woodiness, spiciness, slight aquatic notes, pleasant bitterness, bitter sweet... clean/earthy sweet candy notes and hints of honey and mild greenery tones.

Today I'm heating a sample that is definitely from @TheDarkKnight 😁🙏 it's called Quang Nam bark Kyara. Minimal heat is producing a scent not to dissimilar from green Hojari frankincense unheated. It has a resinous spiciness that's making me think of that.

I never thought of using Maruke oud in mon-koh style lol
Maruke shines in high heat, nutty milke woody aroma

Afternoon burn

I put some slivers of Vietnamese on the heater, with a tiny bit of ambergris and deer musk. I got a lot of ambergris notes, a little was too much (1mm piece). The musk was just right because I put only a tiny dot. The Vietnamese oudh took a back seat because the ambergris overpowered it.

I can see that getting the proportions right for a balanced blend would make it more enjoyable.

I got all those notes on 180-220c hehe. @Faizal_p also recommended me to heat it instead of using it on coal when I first got it. It is a very potent live harvest Merauke, not soil or anything, from the 90s.

Wild Purple Kyara (white shavings, got tons of 2 different kinds of them). 30-40 min session. Sings, like a bird, at 160-200c.

No particular order: creamy, spicy, bitter, buttery, spicy cola mixed with citrus frankincense, woody, fruity, sour red fruits, sourness, sweet, chocolate...

Great Session!!! And is now wrapped in paper for next session which will be final session, or maybe not idk. Got quite a lot of the white shavings.

@Maunamoku's Red Soil - Walla Patta. Around 20 min session on heater, from 100-140c. Needed temp changes quite regular since it was quite a small amount, but damn amazing wood and there's tons of life left, no visible wood changes.

Notes: Woody, earthy, sweet soil, musky, sweet, oceanic, ambergris-like note with an ocean cooling breeze (I think this is a top note as it is strongest after each increase in temp then gradually goes away), strong resinous note, then the Walla Patta normal notes of jungle greenery, earthiness (like I stated already, and IMO earthiness and the soil note is a bit different), chocolate etc...

Lovely piece of wood that I got just over 3 gram of 6 months ago and still have enough for a good amount of sessions!!!
