@Ahmaoud @Olfactory Nomad honestly its extremely simple to replace the plastic with a ceramic cup and have an electrician reconnect the heating plate to a longer wire that will be much further away from the mother board. the only issue will still be the distance that will create the temperatures and this can be controlled by adjusting the length of where the heating plate will rest when your heating

That's all well and good but why should you have to when you've already spent so much money on a heater and from a house such as Shoyeido you would think they would know better? Anything made from a cheap plastic is going to stink when heated up. Ceramic should be the standard.

the kioka is yamadamatsu not shoyeido. you are right tho, plastic should not be in these things. it is what it is. regardless i think it is worth it! the mechanics are perfect its just the plastic that needs to be replaced and its something anyone can do really. at least 50% of the population can do it. but again i agree there is no good excuses for plastic

I think their response was to my comments about the Shoyeido unit. Also the shoyeido has variable temp control but not specific temps. There is a dial that increases the temperature but it just shows low medium and high ranges.

And the kodutu works great - when was the only option I had no complaints ha ha. 🙂

But it does seem like it was never quite finished and the actual experience contrasts with the attempt at elegance... so it feels poorly thought out or not really tested for ease of use.

@iori can these pieces be heated on a sub or does it have to be a special kyara heater?
Thanks.
i can only speak for mine i don't use it much because its not practical and it have smell, the Chinese, Taiwanese heaters and Kioka better for me when it comes to Mon-koh.
Regardless just having right materials doesn't mean you getting right smell if you don't know how to heat it, like going too high can destroy the notes you suppose to smell, going too low can results not showing it.
Speaking about the woods used for Mon-koh i'm pretty sure all of them tested under traditional kodo cup.
In short if your sub got no smell and you know how to use it for heating you can enjoy the mon-koh with it, as i said since mine have smell and its like box it doesn't doesn't work with me.

Thanks iori.
My sub produces good notes as I can control very small up and down movements. I think I shall stay as I am.
Thanks again.

That's a shame for sure. For the cost of these items you expect it's performance etc to reflect that. I'm glad I over-thought which one I wanted before I finally pulled the trigger.
