0.3gram of Brunei incense grade oud chips on recently acquired Chinese electric burner. going with Mon-Koh style.

The initial temperature is 340℃.

I got some unpleasant Chlorine-ish smell from the first whiff. it disappeared within a seconds then light, sweet nectar scent comes in with a hint of dry hay scent. scents are very delicate.

lowering temperature to 230℃. scents get very quiet and subtle. it's very hard to notice the smell without focusing on it. a little bit of barnyard smell gets into my nose. I can't smell sweet nectar anymore.

heating up a bit again to 300℃. scents changed into somewhat foresty, funky smell with a hint of propolis-ish scent(medicinal?).

Verdict
I think it requires some experiences to really enjoy this funky smell. it's somewhat addictive but a little bit offensive to me. now my room is dominated by a funky barnyard smell. I'll definitely try some more to get a proper understanding of Brunei oud. but for now, it's not enjoyable scent. though I like it a bit. I'll give it a 2 out of 5.

Many oud woods leave a pretty undesirable after scent in my opinion. It’s a problem that causes me to burn the oud I have only occasionally. I’m way more of a sandalwood and frankincense burner than an oud burner.

my problem is that I love the smell when a good strong burn is going, and at times the residual smell is nice on one level but almost always smells a little like a barn or like a person who has not showered in a long time (that’s not a great comparison but something like that). I personally fear that if you burn oud regularly, and someone with a western scent aesthetic walks in your house, they are going to be wondering what’s wrong with you... maybe I have a weird nose or maybe I have bad oud. I don’t think this same hypothetical person would have a problem with freshly burning or heated oud - just the disgusting after smell that clings to everything.

I end up burning frankincense to mask the oud stink sometimes which makes me wonder why the hell I am burning oud in the first place...

Nhatrang, Vietnam Oud chips on Shoyeido miyaco sumi charcoal type a.
this charcoal has a slight woody scent. it takes good 10 minutes to fully covered with ashes.

I put a thin mica plate(0.12mm) between charcoal and oud.

honey..! what a sweet smell! :Inlove: it's so rich and intense but not overwhelming. now I'm confused. am I smelling oud or delicious caramel?
suddenly mint, foresty scent comes in and plays with the sweet scent.

it's like drinking dark hot chocolate during cold winter.
I feel like I'm in a honeycomb that covered with thick honey!

Frankincense morning....

RBO's Royal Black, Royal Green Hojari, and Somali on electric (4K video here).

RPP's Borneo Sabah (Lot 3) on subitism (at 16-18 on 100-240V, 50/60 Hz, 9-24V-3A) the top notes are very similar to B3K I've noticed.

Green Tea in a cup of LOVE - something we need/crave more than all the oil and wood in the world. Have a fantastic week everyone!

Heating pieces of Filipino from IO, Habz, ALHashimi
Amazing all of them, all different but yet certain similar notes. They all release the magic for an amazing amount of time and give incredible value. Never had them smoke out my room with burnt smoke smell at the end as I blast the heat
Heating some Nah Trang next to sweeten the air

Royal green hojari frankincense

my burner's temperature range is 50 to 330 celsius. from my experience so far, 210 to 230 celsius is optimal for this resin.
all the sweet juices oozing out from resins on this temperature range without offputting odor.
Edit: corrected burners capable temperature range

May I ask the brand of your heater? Mine only goes to 280c.

What are we looking at here? Is that white disk a heating element of some kind? Can you give a zoomed out view of your heater if so?
