Burning this mysore stick from maunamoku - this smells so good unburned - strong clear santalol notes - cool dry wood - deeply calming. Burning it has that classic rich, sweet woody scent with Santalol backdrop that gradually builds. Sandalwood smoke is complex - a mix of oil, resin, wood smoke - at times smooth, bitter, sweet, sour.

Definitely would love to smell incense featuring ambergris. At one point I had put a sprinkle of some crumbs on the coal and it was really quite a scent. Just positive aspects of ambergris amplified it seem to me

I haven’t sampled anything except the shin kyara and a powdered mix for the taoist seal/stencil burner. Too many good things - want more than i can have. First world problems - gotta love em.

These are great sticks. I love these.

Great stuff it’s been a long time since I’ve burned any. If I recall that has a distinct benzoin note throughout.

You know I never thought about it being an ingredient, but consulting their website it does seem like the series uses benzoin. However I found the regular Syukohkoku to be a lot sweeter, the Tokusen variant somehow feels sterner, refined and quieter, the former however is bombastic (for Baieido standards)! Much to my disappointment, neither has the heavy handed use of borneol found in Tokusen Kobunboku
