That's cool and all, but it still has amber in it.
ORS: Tennendo”s Tensei: This is a really nice and also reasonably priced aloeswood blend. It is nicely balanced with a distinctive overall scent that somehow goes from a little spicy to smooth from moment to moment. I have been burning this a lot lately because, yes, it’s a great deal and also a wonderful backround scent in a room that can set up a nice focused environment.

Can you not understand that amber is an accord? You can smell it in things when its not there. Give me evidence that it has amber in it, go on, please? You can smell amber without amber being in the product as it is an accord.
Yes, I know amber is an accord. I'm aware of what makes up an amber accord. That accord in oil form can be added to Japanese incenses, and is.

Just makes me confused when I see something that is official and then someone says something that they smell that could be something different like an aloeswood note in the stick that smells like amber? You see what I mean? Its purely subjective. So, to get real proof you need evidence 🙂

I should have clarified that when I said amber resin, I was referring to the kind of mushy / solid perfume that hippy shops sell. That is the top note in Tensei.

I have never been in a shop like that as I live in Scotland. But even if you smell it in Tensei it could be the spices or aloeswoods they use (since they do use multiple aloeswoods) that may smell similar?

But overall, I think it may have that amber accord in it, but are you denying it has premium, high quality, multiple aloeswoods? As that is what Tennendo have said themselves?
At £90 for 400 sticks, you can't expect premium / high quality aloeswood to be plentiful in an incense.
Perhaps there's a dusting of those ingredients. For the record, I'm not denying these sticks are completely devoid of aloeswood, but these are blends, which include spices, etc etc etc.

Tensei’s characteristic feature is its refreshing fragrance and Agarwood-based aroma which shows off its sourness. You can see some changes in the fragrance when you burn the incense stick and also when the aroma stabilizes. When fragrance stabilizes, it becomes mellow, its sourness disappears and a gentle sweetness can be felt.
