Tobiume - Baieido ‘Flying plum tree’.

This isn’t an expensive stick by any means, however to my nose it’s a very attractive aroma & it’s one of my favourites to light on a regular basis.
Perhaps it’s the power of suggestion, but ‘Flying plum tree’ is apt as I perceive a dark plummy spicy scent. Also a hint of slightly sweet cinnamon-chocolate & a little camphor. As the scent progresses a buttery spicy Sandalwood is apparent, complemented by a surprisingly big dose of dark resinous Indonesian Agarwood.

Considering the price, it’s quite impressive!

Prof Incense Soil Ambon. Brought a tube of these with me to Vietnam. Such luxury as I don't often burn them at home.
So good right? I burned one earlier this week. I bought the bundle earlier this year with the sandalwood, the soil Ambon, and fusen red soil as my first two oud incense. Now that I’m running low and looking for something similar do I realize what a steal the bundle price was.

The soil Ambon is such a rich musky oud smell and quite strong for such a small stick. While the fusen red soil is sweeter and more nuanced.

Didn't get an opportunity to try the red soil but I've heard good things. Soil Ambon is an experience for sure.

Dr. Incense Processed Sinking Brunei. Less deep and smoky than the Craft Incense Brunei. Has a bit more of the heated wood vibe, drier with some of the more funky "old wood" notes; don't have a better description than that at the moment. I think I prefer the Craft Incense for its richness, but a lovely stick nonetheless.

Sunrise over Ha Long bay calls for Shoyeido Muro-machi. Stunning.

Yamadamatsu's Shu-Ju Rikkokugomi range of sticks this one being my first box of this range, Sasora.

Have had these for quite a while and have a few left and have only finished a few sticks. They are £70 for 15, 5.5inch sticks, so quite expensive, although a friend is sending over a pack of sticks from Yamadamatsu and some of the new Dr. Incense Vietnam sticks for free, wonderful guy. These sticks most likely use vintage Wild Assam wood, and it is definitely a wild high quality Indian wood, so I would think as it is a rikkokugomi set in stick form it would be Wild Assam.

NOTE: Each new note that gets added is added to all the other notes I have mentioned

Anyway, the notes start out quite dry and woody in a very pleasant way, then goes into this sweet, spicy, woody, notes. The further it burns you get notes of a DRY warm and humid, Indian jungle, notes full of beautiful greenery with spicy, sweet, bitter undertones, notes of Ocean breezes with plenty of salty notes in the ocean breeze, sweet and slightly salted caramel, and a note, quite hard to put into words, but its like discovering ruins of an old civilization full of these old rocks that have been battered beyond belief over the centuries, and as you walk in there's notes of oak moss (with all the other notes still playing beautifully like a symphony), resinous notes start appearing every now and then with the woodiness, as it progresses closer to the end you get notes of sweet and spicy milky notes that is quite nice, with lovely barny, high quality hay notes as if you are jumping in and out of the jungle to the country side and back again.

Lovely incense and definitely more to discover.

Hey all, what oud incense coils would you guys recommend?
The Kynam, Sandalwood and Aloeswood ones at Kangiiten, as well as some Shoyeido ones, but with the Shoyeido ones try the stick versions first then get a big box of the coils. I believe Muromachi (even though I have never tried even the stick) coils would be a great one to start with, they have brilliant quality aloeswood in them I believe. Better than Tenpyo and Tenpyo used to have Kyara and very high quality aloeswood, now it is kinda rubbish, but I am gonna try the new ones again and see what I think.

@Yajee Oh and I have Tenpyo, Peaceful Sky old stock sticks, I could perhaps part with 3 for just the cost of the delivery? It'll be the first time I deliver something so it may take a while, but they are very nice, although they are 2.76" but a lot thicker than traditional Japanese sticks, they're like 2 normal sticks stuck together type thickness. They have very basic Kyara, at probably around 15 to 30% at the rest aromatics being high quality aloeswood and the rest filler.

If interested just DM me.

That's very kind of you to offer that but I'm not home in the UK currently. I will give them a Google and see what they're like.

Not sure where to write this, but Kangiiten just went live. I have no funds left this month that I want to spare, but other people might be able to grab some goodies! 🙂
I'd only planned to pick up the Reverie mysore oil, but ended up caving and grabbed Dreams of Ambon and Dreams of Hakusui 😓. Think I'm done with incense drops until Spring, hit the last few Craft Incense releases as well.

Went with Sacred Ground this morning. This one was interesting to me as it has a lot of the medicinal and sour funky top notes of Tibetan incenses/rhododendrons, but with a sweet earthy base and none of the harsher smoky facets. Even Ken's other Himalayan-inspired scents can be a bit much when not by a window, but this is a lot more subtle.

Aden - Al Shareef Oudh.
An outstanding Bakhoor, the best one I’ve ever smelt. Inspired by an ancient Yemeni formulation. Like most Bakhoor it’s a quick burn but complex & develops in layers.
As the first wisps of smoke come off the burner you’re greeted by a delicate powdery Rose. Shortly after the profile begins to open up with the candied sweetness of the honey, bright Frankincense, warm spices. The third stage is where the aroma becomes darker & more rounded, leather & a resinous incensey Oud playing supporting roles to the dominant Musk base.
Aden simply smells beautiful, even from the jar it’s almost too beautiful to burn. Such a comforting aroma, I consider this a functional product as it leaves the house smelling wonderful.
What luck to have discovered your comment 🙂 I bought Aden recently. It was an impulse pick when buying an amazing attar I'd sampled. My subitism burner arrived today but I need a converter or adapter for the plug. You've got me very excited to get this process going!
