I'd only planned to pick up the Reverie mysore oil, but ended up caving and grabbed Dreams of Ambon and Dreams of Hakusui 😓. Think I'm done with incense drops until Spring, hit the last few Craft Incense releases as well.

Went with Sacred Ground this morning. This one was interesting to me as it has a lot of the medicinal and sour funky top notes of Tibetan incenses/rhododendrons, but with a sweet earthy base and none of the harsher smoky facets. Even Ken's other Himalayan-inspired scents can be a bit much when not by a window, but this is a lot more subtle.
I was too indecisive to grab the Ambon which I really wanted but I grabbed Hakusui!

I burned a Professor incense fusen red soil tonight. Hard to fully understand all the nuances. Definite dry earthy character with lighter fruit hints. I get slight cool tones here and there. Very nice.

What luck to have discovered your comment 🙂 I bought Aden recently. It was an impulse pick when buying an amazing attar I'd sampled. My subitism burner arrived today but I need a converter or adapter for the plug. You've got me very excited to get this process going!
I’m so glad to hear Aden is in your collection, you will be very pleased to say the least!

Congratulations on switching over to the subitism heater. Your life will never be the same 😂 They’re excellent.

Make sure you start Aden at a very low temp on the sub, you can always increase it as needed. Bakhoor that features honey as a main component can burn easily.

I really enjoy the Fusen Red Soil sticks, they’re complex. Every time I light one, I perceive different facets. Red fruits, dry earthy (as you mentioned), Musk, Caramel, Green herbal etc.

Craft Incense’s Brunei, down to my last stick. Between this and the Dr. Incense, there’s no comparison. The sticks speak for themselves, though Ken’s could be straighter (said he’s been having trouble with drying due to humidity in Hawaii).

I agree regarding the comparison, shame he's run out 😔

Bought these from Kyarazen over the years. My favorite are the purple tube. I blasted through the first tube in a month and now im very stingy with the last one. 1/2 a stick is all I dare use per session. It's definitely one of my top 5 incense purchases wish I could find more! I burned a half stick of the middle tube today and it's a nice burn but the ones in the purple tube have a creaminess to the scent that is like a warm blanket.

Burned some Devadarü Jungle Rose by Craft-Incense

This one is rich, musky, ouddy, dank and dark. I love it. It’s not as good as his first Devadaru Rose blend a few years back and I’m not sure when he even released this one in particular.

Followed up with an older batch of Redolance I found as well. Might be my favorite incense of all time. Absolutely superb.

Oh that one is awesome! I got a sample and slammed my head into the wall for not buying it. I burned it cm by cm. 😅
To imagine that the old one was even better..

Minorien Fu-in Sandalwood. These sticks definitely use a lot of very high quality Mysore sandalwood.

Just a lovely, high quality, Mysore Sandalwood stick that must use tons of the material because it is very potent with just 1 stick. Notes of beautiful, delicate, wet and dry (sandal)wood, rich, deep creaminess with undertones of some nice sweet lactonic milkiness, very gourmand buttery notes, some slight spiciness and a very pleasant sort of, "sawdust", type note.

Nice fragrance to start the day.

Just incase anyone is wondering what the box I got looked like, a long while ago since I have tons of incense sticks from pure Sandalwood to pure Aloeswood to blends. Sticks is where I started this journey so I will never stop using sticks, but I have reduced my usage of sticks a lot since getting into oils and high grade woods, but I still burn a few sticks a day. I used to go through a box of a 40 (just an example number) stick incense box in about 1.5-2 weeks lol, now they last me much, much longer. I also have a decent sized collection that is always going up.

PS - This was a screenshot from a larger picture I took of 3 Minorien Fu-in incense's I got a while back, the original image is in the attachments if you want to see the original picture.

How do they compare to the professor incense mysore sticks? They are my current favorite sandalwood stick. Not as creamy as others I have but they definitely deliver a great sandalwood fragrance.

They are actually quite similar, with these ones being a bit more creamy I would say, and the the buttery notes in the 2 sticks are very close. It was a while I had those square professor mysore sticks, but I think those used black meat? Not sure, but yeah they are very similar in aroma. You should try the Minorien Fu-in sandalwood for yourself and you will see. The prof mysore sticks though are really good, but so are these, it really is hard to chose so I would say they are equal.

Professor Incense soil Ambon tonight. Lovely powdery musky woody scent with spicy top notes. Cocoa nuances peek out here and there and it has just enough sweetness to balance the dryness.

The aroma sticks around for several hours. It’s very nice walking back into the room after it has burned down.

Makes me regret not being faster on the KZ Ambon sticks last week. I’ll have to stay on the lookout for something similar before these run out.

Pretty busy day in terms of incense burned and it's still not over!

KyaraShrine's Sinking Mysore Sticks - beautifully pure milky sandalwood, quite intense yet also helps calm the atmosphere of a room. I usually burn a third of a stick and over the course of yesterday and tonight, I burned a full stick!

KyaraZen's Australian Joss Sticks - leans more in the slightly caramel territory of sandalwood, it's a pain to put out a stick once it's lit so as usual a full stick was used. The slightly gourmand nature of these sticks and their price and quantity makes them a favorite of mine's

Baieido's Kaden Kobunboku - I burn a fraction of a stick and it's usually the bitter agarwood note that gets me. It reminds me of what oud accords often smell like, somethings a mixture of something inky with a hint of petrol. I keep coming back to this stick, and there are days where I really enjoy it, unfortunately today was not one of those days.
