I have Hojo Red from about 15 years ago that I have kept in a sealed tube and it's very nice. I never tried the other Hojo's but my Hojo Red is probably nothing like what has been made for nearly a decade or more. I have plenty of kyara incenses and don't even seek them and it's only good agarwood sticks I look for, for about the last decade. In general I really have too much and too many selections of incense as it is. It is still nothing compared to my whisky collection of 100's of bottles. Glad I woke up and stopped buying whisky.

Hina will sell you a piece of feces in the kindest, most polite, emoji rich way possible. However, if you remark that the item she sold you is a piece of feces, then she will say it is just subjective and she actually has a highly refined nose and maybe you just don't like what she likes, and she can't help you. She will tell you cultivated material smells like wild- which is isn't true. She will tell you cultivated material is wild, or "basically wild, just young" - which is not true.

Im not sure if she is genuinely uninformed or politely malicious, or both.

She previously sold me a jar of white CK powder that literally smelled like burnt plastic and hot glue, I dont mean that it reminded me of that or that it wasn't a good aroma, I mean as soon as you open the jar - BOOM - burnt plastic/glue smell. Literally that aroma, where it seemed like something clearly went wrong at some point in the process.

I brought it up to her and she politely shot me down as saying "it's so subjective and maybe I just don't like CK, she loves the aroma, etc"
Thank you for the sanity and laugh. My experiences exactly about the doubling down, which extends to Uncle Kai, Crystal whatever his name, the Bahkoor Store (Munira) who has blocked me on ETSY. Subjectivity as an excuse might work in perfumery or even in a blend of incense. But quality when buying a particular wood? Theirs is a spectrum of deception. I'm fascinated by their replies to poor reviews.

I looked on Etsy and it seems to be a flood of sellers selling agarwood and kyara incense and most of it looks like mass produced incense from China being repackaged and sold as if they are the producer and it's very overpriced in general. Looks like a lot of scammy sellers attempting to get over on people. I was surprised how many I saw there

There's a kind of gold rush going on with the kinam cultivation...

Did you get onto Alex from TasFragrance?

Kangiiten ⋆.ೃ࿔*:・💭°•ᶻ 𝗓 𐰁.⋆☾ DREAMS of MERAUKE ~ with coffee on a cool rainy day, is a subtle changeling. First a smoky roast, followed by a rain forest dampness. Then musk which I generally don't care for in blends, but this appears and recedes with a modesty, that keeps me curious. Thanks @OlfactoryNomad 𓅂 𓅂 𓅂

What do you like about it?

Im having a hard time getting past the oil and perfume aspect.
I believe it’s masterful stick and it’s hard to beat, also it’s different approach than all other Kyara sticks I tried in japan.
It bring the the Kyara notes in clean way without any unnecessary notes.

The Gokuhin Kyara Fugaku and Gokuhin Kyara Fugaku got no oil or perfume aspect.
Doubt even current version sold have it, for current have to get Barry words on it as I don’t have them.

The Gokuhin version isn’t made anymore anyway, you would have to go through other channels to get your hands on it.

Kangiiten Eid Mubharak 2025 incense

I asked the Kangiiten team “who made the incense?”, they said KZ formulated it, and they were machine extruded in KZ’s studio in China.

I like these sticks, I smell the agarwood and ambergris most, then the musk, then the sandalwood. The binder is very low key.
I remember I spoke to them about it and they said it have similarities to first versions of Silk Road, do you agree?

burned some Yamada Matsu- Koboku Senshu Siam Jinko today and it's from over 10 years ago. I haven't burned any in a while and it's nicer than I remember but wouldn't buy it in this era because I'm sure it's very different than what I have. I bought 2 boxes of it probably 12 years ago and the packaging looks different than the current version. It's a nice vietnamese wood and spices going on in this. Yamada Matsu used to be one of my favorite Japanese incense companies and I don't know what their incenses are like currently considering I have not bought anything from them in over a decade.

Simple, but good, and at the sale price,
very worthy…considering another box.
I received one with my order, it was meh at best, it was the blue navy box and I have no idea about the contents or the theme of the stick. But that's me, I'm enjoying the kyara sticks more, so I might be missing other well priced sticks.

It fills a need for me, when I want a stick that has musk, ambergris, agarwood, and sandalwood, no other house makes one like it, even in Japan. It is simple though, not extravagant. Then when I need a Kyara kick, or spice blend, I turn to my Japanese sticks, and if I crave pure agarwood, I reach for the pioneering three (KZ, Ken, and Dr. Li Fupeng)
