Nippon Kodo Tokusen Kyara Kayou

Aromatics up front, but with continued
listening, the agarwood is revealed.

In contrast, Dr. Incense Kalimantan
is agarwood up front.

Yamadamatsu Kouboku Senshu Kyara old stock
Thick square stick,
full of aromatics that complement the kyara,
you’d think that you just heated a gram of kyara😀

Ken’s From Out The Depth’s. This is a beautiful incense with ambergris & Nha Trang Agarwood.

Dr. Incense Hong Kong stick

Love it!!!

Was busy making incense today....
I experimented with the use of “charcoal”
as part of the binder.
Utilizing one type of agarwood for direct
comparison of the differences.
One with agarwood, charcoal,
and gum tragacanth......
One with agarwood, charcoal,
and guar gum.....
One with agarwood, makko,
charcoal, and guar gum.

Now for 2 to 3 weeks drying.
[Ouddict.com] Incense of the Day

After only a few hours, the sticks started to bow.

One side drying faster than the other I guess? Got to make a plug for using an old tile to keep them straight, and the ceramic allows moisture to work out underneath. Not that everyone has a bunch of old tile lying around...

This is probably silly because you’ve already heard about my tile trick. It wasn’t even my idea. It was in the background of a photograph of my incense burner and someone asked me where I got the incense stick dryer! A little lightbulb went on in my head but only after someone else pointed it out to me!

My sticks have lots and lots of problems but one of those problems isn’t bending![Ouddict.com] Incense of the Day

I have lots of kaiko - Some whole pieces and some processed into powdered form. I’m trying to figure out how to use this to create that nice mineral sent and slow burn that baieido achieves. I feel like I can smell the kaiko in Kai-un-koh- the one with the square cross section. I love that stick.

I think I get that note in Baieido Kokonoe also.

When I used only makko, there was minimal bending.
I like the texture that guar gum lends to the mix, it makes the dough feel like modeling clay

Ken's Brunei Rose .

My only Rose base incense and I jst love it how Ken has captured Rose without letting it overpower the Agarwood....

After only a few hours, the sticks started to bow.
I couldn’t wait that long for them to dry thoroughly,
since they will stay lit,
I gave them a try.

I don’t need to speculate anything,
the Gum Tragacanth and Charcoal
gives the best results, by far!

The top notes and beauty of the agarwood
came through quite clearly,
the binder notes were near non-existent.

Now I just have to “fine tune” the proportions.

Success!!

KZ Al Ghaliyah

Prominent notes are saffron, agarwood,
and musk.
My goal is to make a stick one day,
with those ingredients,
plus rose and borneol.

And for that matter (making stuff),
I came across the box which contains
my subitism components.
Over two years and I haven’t
assembled it yet:Cautious:

Soon hopefully😀
