well, some kyara is extremely mind numbing to a point if you accidentally smell too much it is literal suffering. so aroma might be amazing but if i smell more than a minute or two it gets really strong for 4-6hours. while another piece might not smell as gorgeous but still be very beautiful and give zen complete relaxed and warm fuzzy feelings, this one is better than any other that will smell better. it is like a beautiful person who will treat you bad, or someone who isnt beautiful who treats you with respect. so sure both matter equally but i prefer a woman who isnt as beautiful who will treat me good over a beauty who will make me feel like i am suffering. of course some people like that mind numbing buzz. its just that i am way too sensitive to effects of all wood and substances for many reasons. thankfully i have some extremely gorgeous woods that i can abuse the heck out of and have pure zen. mind numbing is the perfect effects for those who meditate tho.

Yeah I get you. Mind Numbing one would also be good for people who are having issues with sleeping. And yes, all the kinam you have graced me with are extremely pinnacle.

The pattern of resination on the outside looks like agarwood. Whether it is truly Kinam or not, I'd refer anyone and everyone back to the chart that KZ had posted almost a decade ago on his website. That guy has truly done a huge service to the fragrance community, which I often feel is severely underappreciated.

No need to go far as I said, for a kinam to be as oily as in this picture where the whole cross section smothered with oil it takes many years and the fibers of the wood would have been digested much by the oils making them easily cut by the saw and not looking all strong like they are in the picture. The wood looks more like agarwood than it does fake wood, however the label of kinam is fake. My opinion.

Thank you, @Mr.P . This sharing aims to provide historical and cultural information rather than trying to showcase or sell an item (it doesn't belong of this forum). To me, its value at this moment is immense, especially as the overexploitation of kinam has become alarming over the past 30 to 40 years. You can find these images in some books or shared information from collectors and authors from Japan, Hong Kong, and China. Its characteristics, despite the many different types, have not changed over hundreds or thousands of years of history because nature remains the same; it continues to operate under unified and consistent principles.

can i ask why are you using a japanese book page picture? on my island it is famous for Chios mastic resin, different places are famous in the world for different items, even tho many wars happened, these items stayed as a cultural product that is built on from the ancient times to this day. my question is why is vietnam the only place in the world where a special items like agarwood and kinam do not have a database, museums, books etc available for the world. my guess is that the rich and rulers want to be the only ones taking advantage of the profits and thats why all the really top grades are sold to japan, china, taiwan and singapore leaving 99% of the hunters with low grade materials in already depleted areas where they are allowed to go hunt. on my island there is a museum on this resin, there is so much knowledge. in vietnam there is nothing but a bunch of different stories based on chinese and taiwanese philosophy and a bunch of snakeoil salesmen. for me i love vietnam holds a special place in my heart but sadly this has come only from japan and never from vietnam which is very VERY SAD because each nation should be able to have taken advantage of their own products. so if vietnam doesnt have a database with crystal clear knowledge and lots of information of the products then most classifications and info on the woods is based on whatever any of the non government hunters claim and everyone of them has different ideas and terms and classifications. for this reason i can not personally take vietnamese sellers serious because too much agarwood being sold as kinam. the government however that deals with japan, china, taiwan etc etc i bet they have more clear details and these details are more legit and unchanged since thousands of years exchange that they have had. maybe you should try to find out these institutions within vietnam and see if they are willing to give you some sort of classification system that they have been using when selling to japan etc. im not sure if most of the things i have said are legit in the whole trade thing, but i do know the government in vietnam has the agarwood thing on lock and many parts of jungles forbidden for hunters because they have their own hunters looting and taking advantage of the woods. so a lot of what i have said is just from my logic based on this.

There is lots of fake wood even in big famous markets.
That's why you see them with lots articles for consumers to teach them how to test wood etc and try to watch out for fake was it for heating or bracelets.
I remember friend of friend sent me sample of white kinam he bought from china for around 1400$ gram, sadly wood tainted and smell like stinky socks.
That's beside the mixing of regions like selling Malay as Cambodian or Laos as Cam/Viet, or Viet as Chinese Hainan and so on.
Here in Kuwait since long lots of old viets sold as burmese/Cambodian/Laos "Well as you know gulf in general don't consider Vietnamese wood as top which is laughable but yea each have different bests"

That's an absolutely huge generalisation man. I'm here right now and every single local I have met (which is a few already) is very proud and happy to be from Vietnam. No one from my observations seem like they're beat down from the system here. Everything works as it should and people generally seem happy and industrious. Around here "Uncle Ho" is worshipped. Another not insignificant fact that BECAUSE this is a communist country the population did very well over COVID. Simply for the fact that they had no issues of being told what they could and couldn't do during the countries lock down unlike most of ours where there was a lot of mayhem and opposition. Minimal deaths and they just got on with it. I'd say these people are getting treated just fine.

Real communism is a horrendous and outright disgusting ideology, just think the Soviet Union and (real) Communist China under Mao killed in the quarter of billions if not near half of billions put together. And now, even today, look at North Korea, that is a country that would fall if China didnt support it. Marxist-Leninism is a fatal, outright, brutal regime, and horrible ideology.

Also, Uncle Ho may be worshipped on the outside and thats what you see, but guess what other country does that??? Oh yea, North Korea with Kim as he is technically their God.

And the reason the west is falling is because we are becoming real communist countries, and it has been started in Europe for about 25 years now, and the UK right now is starting to become a totalitarian communist state.

That's quite unique...😆 I would also like to say, that unless you live under somewhat of a communist regime, you cant understand it. Each country has their way of doing it, but the people in the communist countries that have been communist since the cold war will just have it built into them that, "this is how life is", and they dont know better because their social media is controlled just as much as their normal propaganda media. Hopefully my country after 4 years of this labour government turns out and we come out fairly okay, but right now in the fucking UNITED KINGDOM, the birth place of the bloody Magna Carta is becoming a totalitarian communist state under labour.
