Mysore Qadeem 1980’s from An Najwa on my forearm. It takes me many interactions to truly understand an oil although I’m getting a little better at being able to tell where things are headed early on, it just takes time to really tune in to the subtleties.
Case in point, this one hit me a little differently today got me a little bit deeper in the feels so to speak. I got a very dignified, mature, semi dry, semi buttery classic rich Sandalwood aroma in the top notes. There are two levels to the top notes. If you smell it from a distance you mostly notice the forward complex nutty, woody aspects which coexist in a kind of creamy sandalwood space. Just a tad of something bitter-resinous in there. When I take a whole hearted whiff a different more complex and subtle collection of clean dry woody dry-powdery dignified sandalwood notes come into focus. It is the richness of these notes that I find striking in particular. Worth checking out if you have a chance.
