Unusual slight green tint to this oil. It is a treat, most of the gov't stuff I can take or leave, this feels special to me.

It is way overdue that I mention the little sample of 1960s government factory oil I got from An Najwa. I don't believe this one is currently on the market. i've smelled a handful of things sold as government oils, generally ranging from mediocre to very good, but this one raises the bar considerably. I don't know if it was the wood or how it was stored, but this one is exceptionally rich, multi-faceted true to the wood and engaging with the senses. I smell Sandalwood daily and so my sensitivity is lower than many, but this one absolutely cuts through and presents its various woody notes clearly and cleanly. Very nice mature deeply fragrant saturated sandalwood of a type that I don't see very often, to put it mildly.

Outstanding fine top notes in particular (as I see it) for one of the government oils
I managed to snatch half a gram of this also. First time I've tried a government oil, especially one of this age and origin. I plan to keep this for a very long time because obviously it's now all gone (thanks to @DubOudh buying bloody 10ml of the stuff) lol..just kidding. Very happy to have this in my collection. It really is it's own perfume.

I have been experimenting with different oils earlier in the year. This is a rather nutty almond NTT sandalwood oil which is beautiful on it's own.
However, I added some macerated musk/sandalwood oil of about three years in age into this along with some Tabeer Ruh Khus. I also put about literally four drops of Bulgarian rose oil in to see how they would mingle.
Five months on and it has produced a most delightful variant scent. I am more then happy with this mix and get quite strong long lasting scent notes on these warm humid days, particularly in the evening when the rose note raises her head more prominently. The Khus is most notably as well along with the colouring effect.

Applied a healthy swipe of Al Hind Mysuru no.1 this morning. Too much going on today to assess the dry down but the opening and mid notes were beautiful - classic Indian sandalwood, no off notes, very appealing nice santalol effect. I also wore the second distillation recently - quite different. While rhis one has more tangible woody layers in its top notes, it seemed mysuru 2 is more smooth, mellow, velvety, with the complexity being pretty subtle and in terms of sweet almost perfume like nuances to the velvetiness.

Very interesting oils, i feel lucky to have had a chance to smell them.

So sweet that this is US distilled. I feel like we have some catching up to do here in some ways lol, even more so after reading some old writing about the perfume industry, and hope/expectations at the time that the US would become a new promised land for cultivation and extraction of fragrances.

Thanks!

The next one I'm doing will be in accordance with a research that has been done and it proved that this method will yield the best quality sandalwood oil interms the yield and great percentage of major constituents.

I applied a big swipe of olefaktory sri lanka oil last night when turning in. Beautiful smell when turning in but surprisingly the aroma was gone in the morning, which isn't usually the case with sandalwood that smells so rich in the opening notes. I wonder if this was a relatively shorter distillation or perhaps I was just sweating and somehow it all rubbed off

I've gone with the Kangiiten special reserve this afternoon as I decided to decant it from that silly little bottle with the dropper top to a standard 3ml with a dipstick. I could never get anything out of the dropper top not matter how I shook the bottle so this is much more user friendly. Very thick and buttery, there was some kind of white residue which was sitting on the bottom of the original bottle which I wasn't aware of until i sucked it up and put it all into the new bottle. It was hanging suspended in the oil for a while but has settled again now. Couldn't get a picture of it

Recently purchased from Habzoud, nice guy, easy transaction, and fast shipping.

Fawz - dense woody goodness, a little bit of spice and lasts a good while. There is a little bit of butteriness but it isn’t the main feeling to my nose.

Fas - Can’t say much more about this than Habz has written for the description of this, much more earthy, green, with a hint of florals lurking underneath. Spices roasted in ghee rather than butter. Unfortunately the most fleeting of the offerings.

Ramah - Wow… the longest lasting of the three, lovely hay notes, earthy, rich honey like florals. Easily one of the nicest and most unique sandalwoods I’ve been able to smell so far.

Also from Habz, Hasna a sandalwood frangipani based attar. I think that the name for this is perfect, it is as if it is a beautiful floral sandalwood oil. Almost dainty but has a robust base. I’ve been loving wearing this whilst working in the garden. Blue Lotus Sandal this isn’t currently available on the store, not sure whether it’s an old release or just something they are working on. I love it, dense florals on a sandalwood base, almost conjures up the mental image of a pond surrounded by flowers. Would like to buy a full bottle of this.

Also was able to try Mysore from Dr Incense. One of the cleanest, butteriest Mysores that I have had this year. This stuff is soooo good… hopefully it comes back soon.

From The Tea Guru on Etsy - Sri Lanka Sandalwood resinous, honey and light spice, very decent. Sinking Java Sandalwood this one is the weirdest of all the oils in this post, citrusy, very green, light spice… almost reminds me of cut grass or mulch. Interesting. Indian Sandalwood EO it does what it says on the tin, inoffensive slightly buttery sandal.

I swiped some of Mesoud's Mysore sandalwood oil. That is one heck of a nice oil - I find it has an unusually nice presence/diffusion and balance of top notes I associate with the finest sandalwood chips, and has no accessory rubbery, floral, acetic, over sweet, or any other oddball notes. I have more ultra-primo sandalwood than i will ever consume, but I am tempted to stash some of this away nonetheless. It's not entirely rational

It's ok. We understand. 😉

Understand and commiserate!! Indeed, not a day goes by I do not use a sandalwood oil. I should probably be contributing more. In fact, oddly enough Mr. P, I've been enjoying MesOUD NTT2 and his Mysore this week (about out of my 2.5 g bottles :/)

I agree wholeheartedly that the @mesOUD Mysore is a good, maybe even archetypal example of Mysore. Great all around oil and I've not seen anyone ever offended by my wearing it. I used it a few weeks ago in a vanilla-soliflore/centric fragrance recently and was very happy with the creaminess I achieved.

NTT2 is more top notes for me that runs into a deep base with some citric, oxidized waxy notes reminiscent of para-cymene. I get polished wooden floors with that.

2002 Tamil Nadu oil (White Lotus / Ramakant Harlaka project) today. Quite different from the oils that are circulating these days, which has me puzzled. Fuzzy warm opening with hints of maple/fenugreek, some milky, musky and animalic notes, and of course a strong fuzzy sandalwood heart and loooong tail.

What i am not seeing since the early 00's is these rich tamil nadu oils with the maple/musk opening, and given all the careful distillation going on, I assume the explanation is that there are no more trees like that there anymore.

Mysuru No.1 by CraftOud using very oily, Wild (black meat) Mysore Sandalwood, I will show pics of the wood before:

Oil -He gave me a good bit extra, bottle as nearly full and I paid for 1g lol, thanks Dr Prasun:

I am gonna do a proper write up(s) about this oil, at least 1-2 short ones and 3-4 long ones. It is a very complex sanadlwood... I think I will do a good write up on it in 3 days as a first impression (well second lol).

I just had to write something because I (to me anyway) was wearing my new favourite sandalwood oil!!! Black Meat Mysore Sandalwood oil is amazing.

Short expression:
Lovely, elegant, delicate woodiness, with a nice creamy, gourmet vanillic tone to it, milky, high quality lactonic notes, with a woodiness that is sweet, powdery wood... after this you get this nice creamy and milky notes, with sandal (wood) notes, this is 15-20 mins in, after 15-20 mins you get a nice well rounded, spicy and sweet sandal (wood) notes, sometimes more spicy than sweet, some times more sweet than others. After 30 - 45mins, floral notes started appearing more and more, and they were a consistent sweet note. The sweet note before this I forgot mention (like 30 - 45 mins in) was giving me some purple type vibe with a fruity note that lasted very short but would come in and out of the experience. Buttery notes start to come in too more and more and creamy a very gourmet desert like note.

I wasnt wanting to do any real write up but i guess i done a short one lol. Its pretty half arsed lol.

This oil is 10x better and much more rich and indepth than Fushigi's mysore sandalwood (even though fushigi one is pretty good but nothing on this, but fushigi ouds mysore is super cheap, £250 for 24g). So, of course this 1g at £92-93 (and it is very clean) is better since its like over 90x the cost of Fushigi per gram lol, and I showed you the material used, and I asked Dr Prasun, the person who owns CraftOud told me the instagram pic was the wood made into Mysuru No.1 .. It is an absolutely out standing sandalwood, and I hate favouriting oils because they are all different, but this one is super complex and way less boring than most sandalwood (except from An Najwa which brought out a series of rare and old mysore black meat distillations) oils. And it is just so much richer and well defined and.. idk hard to describe, and it has a real psychoactive effect, the real medicinal effect when smelling it, calming you and making you feel happier for the first 2.5 hours then its like a nice boost and relaxing agent.

Also, I know sandalwood very well, this one is very much kyara level of sandalwood oil. Just like @An Najwa Vintage sandals.

I am once again struck by the batch of mysore that mesoud has in stock. Really has a beautiful balanced woody opening. at the moment that lovely dry powdery smell that comes into play in the base notes of good oils is standing out in the early stage of its scent evolution as well. This smell always reminds me of fresh snow for some reason

Will have to try the Mysore Mesoud has, but his ntt batch II is a delicious sandalwood! I think I remember it right that it was made for his blends so I got some expecting I would make a blend but it feels criminal to do with this! So glad I have some as it has got better and better with a little age, it is quite different to any other sandalwood I have. Just want to enjoy it instead of try and describe the notes tonight!
