I am almost hesitant to post this one because it is a top contender for my favorite song and I almost want to gatekeeper it, but also I do want to share it out as much as I can and also share out this artist as much as I can because he is one of my most favorite music artist and I think he deserves more recognition. With that being said, today’s song of the day is “U3HaveRuinedMyPerceptionOfHappiness” (with i will be referring to as U3 for this share) by Chicago Fire: . This song is an almost meloncholy sad song that has a long intro and long exit. It is played on an old out of tune poo i which makes it have such a bitter sweet feel for it. His voice is very heartfelt and you can feel the pain behind it through his raspiness and intonations. It is a very soft song and I don’t think it is too long. I think it is perfect. It is just a bit over 9 minutes long but I think it is all worth it. I love Chicago Fire: because of his amazing song writing and thoughtful melodies, and both of these show especially bright through this song. This song is off of his second studio album ‘eternal heart rot’ released August 28th, 2022 and is one of my favorite albums of all time. There is a few songs on the album that are also longer than this one such as “17:27” which is 17 minutes and 27 seconds. This is “U3HaveRuinedMyPerceptionOfHappiness” by Chicago Fire: .

A song that is truly of the times lol. It is short, catchy, simple…but it holds a deep philosophy that I try to abide by. I am in a wonderful place in my life now, but it still gives me perspective during days that might not be going my way.

Song of the day: “Champagne Coast” by Blood Orange. This song always feels like it would be an in the intro of a new coming of age movie and a song that would re occur in the main character’s toughest moments. I love this song because it feels super depthful and emotional but an emotional that brings emotion to the listener. The reoccurring lyrics are hypnotic and the layering of vocals with the heavy piano in the background and the dramatic tone of the song just feels so perfect. I think I could listen to this song hours on end without getting very tired of it. The way that the song comes in at the beginning very subtly but setting the expectations. The lyrics feel deep and it is just everything about this song which is so emersive. This song came out on Blood Orange’s first studio album ‘Coastal Grooves’ August 30th, 2011. It is still such a sensational song. This is “Champagne Coast” by Blood Orange.

Today’s song of the day is “Oppsie” by Good Morning. This song is a shorter but sweet song being a little less than 2 minutes long. It is a very relaxing song with a layer back feel to it and a nice smooth beat behind it. The guitar piece feels very clever like most of their songs. I have been getting really into this band recently. Just the overall mood and feel of them is very calming and enjoyable. I’ve had this song downloaded for quite a long time and I always find it very enjoyable. It isn’t anything super crazy special. Just a nice song. This song was released as a duo song on a mini album named ‘Step Aside / Oppsie’ the two songs names on the mini. It was released November 2nd, 2016. This is “Oppsie” by Good Morning.

Today’s song of the day is “Golden Brown” by The Stranglers. This song gives a very meloncholy feeling and a feeling of reminiscence. To me this song makes me think about dancing in an old mideivil castle that a noble or a king is hosting, and the sun has already set about an hour ago put the sky is still a vibrant purple and the large chandelier lights up every corner of the ballroom while a live band plays as you sway on the polished white and black tiles. This song is very lovely from start to finish and it feels like a dream. It comes off of the album ‘La folie’ released November 9th, 1981. I always wished I could go see the Stranglers perform and see them perform this song especially because I love it so much and their other music too. But without further ado; this is “Golden Brown” by The Stranglers.

Today’s song of the day is “It Almost Worked” by TV Girl. I haven’t listened to this band in quite a while but when I woke up this morning, I had the turn stuck in my head and I almost had a craving to listen to it. It satisfied that craving very much so. The soft rock tone and the bells and drums of the song with its nuanced techno like style is very soothing at least for me right now. The very calm and monotone voice of the singer is very relaxing. I quite like this song. Not too much to write about it today. It is off of the album ‘The Night In Question: French Exit Outtakes’ which is their fourth studio album coming out in May 1st 2020. This is “It Almost Worked” by TV Girl.

Today’s song of the day is “Mistress ( Piano Version)” by the Red House Painters. Another one of Mr. Mark Kozelek’s masterpieces of writing and instrumental sound. this version in particular is very deep a sensual with the piano, and the softness of the song is so adoring to hear. The lyrics flow and the beat is so smooth and just the overall song works so well together. He is so good at painting a picture with words and sound. The song comes off of their second studio album title ‘Red House Painters 1” released May 24th, 1993. This is “Mistress (Piano Version)” by the Red House Painters.

Today’s song of the day is “Moon Age” by Duster. To me this song feels like. a space odyssey. It feels very nuanced even for today but it also has that classic vibe to it and makes me feel like i’m watching ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ with this as its backtrack. It is a very short song at only a little over a minute. Only instrumental like much of Duster’s earlier days. It encapsulates what makes Duster, Duster. The background guitar and slow drums, with some other special effects used little but that little makes for such an impactful effect on the music. It is a calming song. It is off of their first studio album ‘Stratosphere’ which was released February 24th, 1998. This is “Moon Age” by Duster.

Today’s song of the day is “No Soy de Aquí … Ni Soy de Allá” by Jorge Cafrune. I quite love more folky latin American music, especially more classic and older song such as this where he only plays the guitar and sings and whistles. I love his course voice and interesting guitar piece. This song feels very reminiscent. I love the Argentinian dialect of spanish Rioplatonease. This song just fills me with joy to hear it. It was released on the album “Mis 30 Mejores Canciones (Remasterizado)” from what i can find but is most likely from much earlier, it being from June 24th, 1999, and him dying 1978.

Today’s song of the day is “Boots” by Deadharrie This song is quite short and is just an instrumental at about 1:01 minutes. It is a very soothing soft rock esc and indie rock sound with its guitar and great use of wammy bar. The drums are very calm and laid back in the song. It is a nice way to start my morning. It was release off of the album ‘Eternity, Make Believe’ and was released May 1st, 2026. So a pretty recent album. This is “Boots” by Deadharrie.

Today’s song of the day is “Hideaway” by Bendrix Littleton. This song is a more of a new aged folk song and is very relaxing and deep with its soft guitar and haunting vocals. Bendrix Littleton isn’t a big music artist but he is one of my favorites. The song reminds me of being out in a cabin in the middle of the woods and the daylight barely hitting your eyes in the morning through your window. It is a lovely song off of a lovely album by a lovely artist. It comes off of the album ‘Lp2’ released April 1st, 2022. It is his second studio album. This is “Hideaway” by Bendrix Littleton. The song isn’t on youtube sadly.

Today’s song of the day is “Sawdust & Diamonds” by Joanna Newsom. I have been really getting into long poetic songs recently and I quite enjoy them and the interesting beats and transitions coupled into one song. Their compositions are so fascinating, almost like artistic fragrances. Her vocal range and emotion is very captivating and the very folky feel is very nice with mostly guitar melodies and other more traditional classic western instruments, almost a mid evil sound. This song comes from the album ‘Ys’ released November 14th, 2006. The song is 9 minutes 55 seconds long. The most famous song off of the album is “Only Skin” which is 16:53 long and I would encourage you to listen to the last 4 minutes of it. This is “Sawdust & Diamonds” by Joanna Newsom.

This song is a very bitter sweet song with a very sad but upbeat instrumental to it with a guitar and banjo then a viola coming in later on into the song. The vocals are very lovely and the backup vocals make it all the more sweet. The writing is impecable, like a somber poem. It’s such an amazing album, Stephen Merrit is such an amazing writer! I wish I had the album, I would just sit in my room all day for a weekend and listen o it on repeat. Love the Magnetic Fields!

Today’s song of the day is “Grace Cathedral Park” by the Red House Painters (and another honorable mention is the song “Mistress” and “Mistress (Piano Version) off of the same album). It is the first track off of their second studio album called ‘Red House Painters 1’ which was released May 24th, 1993. This song is a very relaxed almost shoegaze like sound. The writing is lovely as always from Make Kozelek. This is one of my all time favorite albums because every song is amazing, and this opening song really sets the stage for the rest. They all have different sounds and aren’t just recycled beats or lyrics. Overall, it is a very relaxing song to start off the day. This is “Grace Cathedral Park” by the Red House Painters.

This place feels a little bit more like a community / neighborhood when people share a bit about their interests, i for one am interested in hearing what ouddicts are up to, listening to etc. especially because this forum brings people in from so many different parts of the world and a wide range of ages and life experiences.
