Haven't tried Yunnan yet but if it reminds you of Rubaiie I believe that it must be really nice. Compliments to you as well! 🙂

I’m new around here and new to Oud oils. I don’t have a lot of experience with real Oud except for 3 or 4 perfumes I own, so last week I placed 4 orders of samples from 4 different artisans. Imperial Oud, La Maison Khenata, Royal Bengal Oud and Sultan Pasha.

Very excited to try them all!

All fantastic houses. Those SP attars will hook you for life!

Couldn't resist getting a wild Irian oud after i smelled it 😛 loving the slight vanillin notes and spices which gives it a slight incensy vibe.

I plan on a quick 3day soak in clay pot followed
By a slow low heat ( increased pressure) 3 day distillation in stainless being collected in fractions as temp and pressure rise
Material being distilled is 10 kg cultivated dust, 1 kg wild dust, 1 kg incense grade chips .
All from Vietnam
Sadly I have other material on the shop list to be distilled first .
rhododendrons are blooming early!!!

I guess it's a steam set up from what I'm reading.

Enjoy yourself, I had hard time finding a steam apparatus in Indochina, I wanted to do this long time ago.

I was close to do one recently in Laos but condenser (I guess) was messed up and collector gets only (low yield) black oil.

As the owner didn't wanted to cooperate I had to give up.

3 days soak ? Why not ! Most important thing is to know when to stop before it becomes fattier good luck my friend [emoji106]

Yes hydro/steam
With vertical ( solvent recovery type) stainless condenser
Lifted bottom screens to keep material away from the heat
I chose 3 day soak and 3 day cook time as the starting point because the yield increases with soak time with 7 day soak being the optimal yield without going to the next level of soaking in lactic acid or sulfuric acid to open the pore size.
Just trying to stay as traditional as possible
